    Re: 2014 OS HOF Voting

    In no order whatsoever:

    Craig Biggio
    Jeff Bagwell
    Mike Piazza
    Curt Schilling
    Barry Bonds
    Roger Clemens
    Mark McGuire
    Greg Maddux
    Frank Thomas
    Tom Glavine

    If I had more votes:

    Sammy Sosa
    Rafael Palmeiro
    Mike Mussina
    Larry Walker
    Kenny Rodgers
    Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

        Thomas

I skipped over Piazza when looking at this list accidentally. Didn't even see him and pressed the "vote" button too early.

I would easily vote Palmeiro if he would show his face in baseball again ala McGwire, but he kind of just went into hiding and never resurfaced. Why should he be entitled with something he couldn't even endure?

And I've been watching the Braves since 1995. Look, I love Tom Glavine but there might be a problem that I was able to watch Greg Maddux all the same years that I'm having trouble not comparing the two, and since Maddux was the better pitcher I know he gets the bid easily. I probably should have given Glavine the benefit of the doubt as well, but it was hard for me to know since the only comparison I could make at the time was to Maddux, and not just "other pitchers."

EDIT: Curt Schilling was on the list, too? Damn, I'm having trouble reading. It's probably because they weren't in alphabetical order.

          .
Glavine was extremely good at what he did but as you said he was overshadowed by Maddux and to an extent John Smoltz. Interestingly I think you can make the case that Glavine's decline was less torturous than Maddux's who by the end of his career was somehow seemingly a commodity for some teams but he was clearly a shell of his former self and was even MORE of a crafty pitcher by necessity than he was in his prime. At least with Glavine he still had a relatively lively fastball in his decline years.

I voted Piazza too, forgot to list him.

It was down to Raines and Clemens for me and went Raines because he's been on the ballot longer and deserves it. I'd vote Clemens next year for sure.

Ah…makes sense. Agree with you on Raines…way underrated player who really should be in already.

I would have probably put 3-4 more if I could. The 10 people rule is stupid.

I've shared my stance on some of the Steroid ERA players before. Still firmly take the stance that guys like Bonds and Clemens belong.

So with the poll getting close to being done we've got 6 guys in the HOF…really surprised at the lack of support for Kent.

It's the Hall of Fame, a museum about baseball…not the Hall of All that is Good and Right about baseball. Seriously, 50 years from now when I visit the HOF (if I'm around) I want to be able to show my grandkids Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, etc, along side Maddux, Piazza, Glavine, Biggio, etc, and tell them about the 'steroid' era. If none of these guys are in there, an entire era of baseball will not be represented in the museum.

Sure, you could put a display in the museum that talks about them and talks about the era, etc, but that's just the easy way out IMO.

Maddux, Glavine, and Thomas are the only ones that made it. Brutal for Biggio…got 74.8% of the vote (that's like 2 votes short).

Disappointed in Piazza's low (62.2%) total…dude should be a lock as much as Thomas.

What is going on with Raines…the guy should be a LOCK and he can't get any traction.

                              Clemens/Bonds go down in support...
