While that's better than the opposite, any pitcher in that situation is getting robbed of the opportunity to complete his no-hitter or perfect game. Given how rarely these opportunities present themselves, I can't imagine they'd be too happy about that.

      Talk about massive turnover.

Teoscar Hernandez is now the longest tenured Jays player. He made his Jays debut all the way back in September...exactly 3 years ago.

Only current Jays player to have even played with Jose Bautista.

Now this year he has 12HR and hitting .300. Not bad for a guy dealt for Liriano.

I think somebody once mentioned that even the players like the DH in the NL. Of course they do, they want more plate appearances and defensive opportunities! Some pitchers are probably frightful at the plate to boot. But they will make the millions regardless, and they aren't the viewing audience, we are. The people who watch the game should be most heavily considered.

Now, if we took a vote that only included NL fans, might the majority sway in favor of the DH? Possibly. I wouldn't be voting that way, though.
That's a shame, as a fan of an AL team I would have voted in your favor since I like the difference between the two leagues.

Either way though, I don't think you want to use a fan vote, no way that would pass as the popular opinion. Your best bet would probably be to poll NL pitchers only.

The universal DH isn't going anywhere, it was only a matter of time.

I think the other reason NL pitchers might be in favor of the DH is I bet many of their outings are terminated prematurely because they are hit for when their spot comes up in the lineup in, say, the sixth inning with a runner in scoring position. The manager theoretically would have left them in the game had their spot not come up, but instead they went for the established hitter or something. Then again, that's the part of the no DH that I enjoy seeing managers work toward (and getting pitchers to become better hitters so they're not always an automatic pinch-hit as well).

But you're right, sadly it's probably gone forever and we're here to only see DH now.

Also bring back collisions at home plate between the runner and catcher. Back when men were men (and likely had brain damage).

The Cubs broadcasters were talking tonight about MLB possibly retiring 21 across the league. I'm pretty surprised they haven't done this yet, but I love the idea of it.
