    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Are teams around the league having a tough time managing their 40 man rosters with the increase in injuries? The Mets seem to be using the 60 day IL just to create roster spots and they’ve had to designate four guys for assignment in the last 11 days

I'm not expecting Vegas to compete well with the organized group in Portland, unless they have some terms that sour a possible partnership with them.

Only way Vegas happens I think is if Wynn/Caesars want it and pony up some cash.

I would love a team in Vegas. I visited for the first time in April and really liked it. Apparently the A's want a $1 billion (!) stadium.

If they do get a team through relocation or expansion, I hope it's a nice open stadium with no retractable roof. They'd have to limit the day games to early and late in the season, but something with a view of Red Rock Canyon would be amazing.

Aw c'mon, you wouldn't want a Red Rock Park for Red Rock Canyon?

Don't think there will be much possibility of that, it would be something reasonably adjacent to the strip (Festival grounds at Sahara, maybe the Rio site), south (land near the M) or maybe downtown (Cashman Field site).

A's met with the Clark County, Las Vegas and Henderson, toured a number of potential sites. They also met with reps for Wynn, Caesars and the Boring Company and went to VGK and Aviators games (presumably also meeting with their executives.)

They're headed to NY to discuss this trip w/ MLB and are planning 2nd and 3rd trips to hash out a potential $1b stadium plan.

Portland is very organized, but I do wonder if they are more interested in an expansion and ownership opportunities, than the A's.

...or perhaps the vote in July will go their way and they never leave Oakland and their leverage play worked.

Either way, they want to have a plan by the end of the year.

A beat writer for the A's wrote a story today for the Athletic and said Portland is not an option.

                It's either Oakland or LV.

It already looked near done based off of his play to this point. This may ensure it.

I remember his hilarious moment on the Cardinals when he tried to rob a home run against the Dodgers that hit the warning track, and he face-planted... then later I saw a blooper real video on YouTube where he'd done it once before that in Milwaukee!

How many times do you have to be taught this lesson, Marcell?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Only for any time he’s suspended unless there is any special clause in his contract

If he’s suspended or does jail time, the Braves are off the hook for that time.

He had a neon yellow cast in the arrest photos. Man loves his neon. They need to ban guys wearing non team colors. Acuna looks like a darned fool out there every day.

On a lighter note...in the Bucs/Rockies game the other day, Will Craig (he of the chasing down Javier Baez play) hit a dribbler down the first base line and the Rockies first basemen fielded it going towards Craig and applied the tag for the out. Craig stopped and hesitated for a second before the tag was applied to him and Greg Brown pointed out what everyone was thinking: how hilarious would it have been if Craig retreated to home plate.

Also, as to his play against Baez...Baez is a wacky kid. You've never seen a guy retreat back to home like that, so it's perfectly understandable if Craig's instinct to this peculiarity happened to be wrong. It's been annoying seeing all these people acting like that play makes him some sort of idiot. Glad to know none of you ever had a mental lapse during a situation you've never practiced or even thought of before.
