This is all great to watch my local team's players, but I don't consider it the real thing until it's the real thing, and only then am I really in the groove.

Don't get me wrong, I love this time anyway as I'm watching games when I can (if they're on), getting the scoop on which young pups really shine, and hell we even get more baseball video game information rolling out during this time. However, between the Super Bowl and Opening Day is always the bleakest time of the year for me sports-wise, as I'm not at all a NCAA basketball/football fan and I'm itching for that first pitch.

This is why it's so nice to have the XFL return this year for me. I'm glad to have that as a bit of a passerby (at least on weekends while I teach and coach on the weekdays) until the real start of the season.

It is crazy to think we're that close to starting though!

not to get too far into the football weeds in a baseball thread,
but I sure do wish the xfl & usfl would pool their resources, create one epic spring football league

but yeah, I love me some spring training exhibition baseball in March,
and Daytona speedweeks helps bridge the gap for me from SuperBowl to spring training

I tend to "start" my serious part of the season after the NBA FInals and Stanley Cup playoffs are over. Works out well, and the Braves seem to be out of full on collapse mode by that time, so it's been working

As much as I love hockey and basketball season, it just feels more special when baseball returns, partially for baseball reasons, but also just having baseball returning meaning it's the time of the year when the weather gets warmer and days get longer too.

And those cold snowy days does help slightly when you're watching baseball from Florida on TV on a weekend afternoon.

Posted a few weeks back, but a somewhat look at how the Jays field/seats will be from a ticket perspective

The notable part here is the seats go all around the Jays bullpen, but stops before the main part of the visitors bullpen (for obvious reasons).

Feels weird either way seeing no 500OF(although I'm glad it's gone, it was a mostly useless section which looked/felt cutoff from the rest of the ballpark).

Mattingly who currently works for the Jays will be part of the Nashville Stars group looking to bring a team to Nashville.

I'd rather just relocate the Rays to Nashville, but we'll see what happens.

If MLB does expand and Nashville is one of the areas they go, does the MLB have a 2nd expansion team also from the east (like a Montreal or Charlotte) or go west to Vegas?

Nashville and Charlotte getting teams would be interesting if MLB ever does realign.

                You mean like Oakland? lol

Seriously I think it's an easy call for Vegas.

I'd definitely rather see relocation right now.

As to Vegas, and then Charlotte, Montreal and/or Nashville get teams depending if Rays relocate and/or they do expansion.

I wonder if they'd even do a deal similar to the NHL in the late 90s. They agreed to a few expansion teams, and teams were added basically based on when their venues were ready.

So whoever gets a park first gets the As, and the remaining 2 or 3 will also get teams, it'll just be depending on their stadium completion/if Rays move.

Even if it's an awkward division format for a season with an east team getting put in the west (although it's not entirely bad given you have Rangers and Astros also there, which I believe are same time as Nashville anyways), it'll sort itself out quickly.

the day Mlb puts a team in Vegas, they need to let Pete Rose get a small stake in ownership, give Charlie Hustle an apology, and induct him into a Cooperstown.

oh, forgive me, thought I was in the uncommon opinion thread lol

MLB is fine with making money from (and encouraging) gambling, but will still hold the line on Rose. Nowadays if MLB caught a player gambling they would probably cover it up and tell a player to sit out a season for "personal reasons."

The Automatic Balls and Strikes system will be used in all 30 Class AAA parks in 2023, sources told ESPN.

All AAA ballparks will be using the automated strike zones.

The problem with Angel is most of his blown calls are not on balls and strikes but are on plays at the plate…at 1st… 2nd…3rd…
