I'm a fan. What I don't like is how quickly they're able to swing now because you don't get to watch the balls very often. Way too quick-cut. I think around the time of the ASG in Cincinnati, San Diego, and Washington they had the timer aspect down pat, where you had to wait for the previous ball to land before taking your next swing. This is as much for safety reasons as it is for entertainment reasons.

Right. That's what they said. Even for NBA 2K, the uniforms were very low-res. I'm just saying it would've looked awesome.

Something we haven't thought of about the ASG tonight, how long might it last with the pitch clock?

Last few that went 9 innings have gone about the same length as an average MLB game of those years, so if this year follows suit, do we see a 2.5 hour ASG?

Technically it's a rule just nobody follows it, ESPECIALLY not Arozarena. I hope someone kept deep stats of this HRD, I want to see how many pitches each guy faced per AB. Arozarena had pitches coming in every 3 seconds.

They need to have an ump with the pitcher who clears them for each pitch (and so the batter can visibly see the ump giving the pitcher the go to pitch). Obviously some guys will get way more pitches based on factors like how hard the ball was hit, how high, how far and all that, but when you're swinging at a pitch when nobody even knows if your previous pitch has gone over the wall yet, that's too much rule bending that doesn't make for great tv.

Toronto, Atlanta, Baltimore on the short list for 2025 ASG.

Given Atlanta hasn't changed anything which led to MLB relocating the ASG the first time, not sure why you'd just go back there a few years later.

Baltimore hasn't had one since 1993, Toronto not since 1991.

I say the sooner the better for the Jays to get one. Their new renovations will be done after next offseason, so 2025 would make sense, although 2027 is their 50th season, so maybe MLB waits until then? And then the next ASG Toronto gets will be whenever their new ballpark happens, which is probably in the late 30s/early 40s?

Looks like MLB.TV doesn't have a problem getting the All Star Game. I thought I had an issue accessing it last year. Perhaps it was for the Home Run Derby, or maybe I was spoiled its ending before I got a chance to see it live for myself (I was in Reno at that time last year and couldn't catch games live).

Really disliking the NL uniform…the pant looks like a business slack. AL is solid, but NL is lacking…

You guys can't possibly like this schlub more than Joe Buck for national broadcasts such as this.

Canada and international gets Buck Martinez (and Dave Flemming)

It's funny how MLB is the only sport where they do international broadcasts over here instead of the US feed.

Nothing we haven't heard before, but now with As situation nearing an end, you know the pressure will be put on the Rays, especially when you likely have $2B+ (expansion fees) just waiting on the Rays decision.

Let's see where people stand on this......

Mariners team store ahead of the Jays series this weekend has set up a big Jays merch section in their store.

That series is one of the bigger traveling series of the year in baseball, it literally sounds like a Jays home game.

Sure, on one hand, Mariners are further profiting out of the Jays fans with what I'd imagine is jacked up prices on merch, but at the same time, a team store selling merchandise of the visiting team?

I wonder how well it'd even do because normally the fans who go down for this series are the ones already decked out in Jays gear. It's not like just because people live in Vancouver or somewhere else that they can't get Jays merch, they have sports stores and online shopping in Canada...

Depending on the merch selection, I'm sure the M's will make some bank. It's not as if there's an official Blue Jays shop in Vancouver (SportChek is the closest, LOL), and not everyone shops online. Even if you're already wearing team gear, there's always a temptation to browse and buy new stuff at the ballpark/stadium/arena.
