Re: MLB Off-Topic
Something weird is happening with the Mets. Their GM Billy Eppler resigned today and word came out that he’s under investigation for improper use of the IL and didn’t want to be a distraction. That seems like something pretty minor to be investigated for, plus everyone uses phantom injuries to keep rotating relievers up and down from the minorsComment

You want free speech?
Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.Comment

The Giants have territorial rights to the entire peninsula, I believe. They vetoed a potential A's relocation to San Jose a few years back.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. It doesn't make sense since everybody is doing it. Something isn't out yet that hasn't been told. Wonder if Showalter is the leak tool. Didn't care for him either. I thought he failed at the end last year, and lost his marbles this year. I'm not crazy about Counsel but it's probably him. My hope for manager?

Re: MLB Off-Topic
30 years to the day:
Still can't believe the Jays never put a statue of this outside the dome. One of the biggest moments in Canadian sports history with one of the easier poses to make a statue out of as well.
Right outside the dome is one of the bigger tourist spots in the entire city with the stadium, CN Tower, Aquarium among other things in the spot. It's always crowded with people taking pics and tour buses everywhere, sounds like an easy idea to put Jays statues out there to really show off your history even to those not familiar with the team.
It's a shame how so many non baseball fans probably think the Rogers guy who owned the team is the most significant figure in Toronto sports with him having a solo statue on the grounds. The amount of people I've seen taking pics with his statue not even knowing who he is, and realizing how many opportunities are missed not having Jays statues there...Last edited by Majingir; 10-23-2023, 02:31 PM.Comment

Anyone hear about this Baseball United thing?
Just some Baseball league in Dubai, apparently Rivera and Larkin are associated with it and Adrian Beltre and Tejada are GMs?
They held their draft and its as random as it sounds.
Cano, Colon, Sandoval among names taken?
Are any of these guys actually playing in the league?Comment

I don't think this will work. They like soccer and Cricket over there. This baseball united thing reminds me a lot of that Saudi soccer league that's handing out recordbreaking contracts.Last edited by zello144; 10-24-2023, 12:28 AM.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The Rangers weren't the only one to just break a title drought. The Hanshin Tigers, Japan's equivalent to the Cubs/Red Sox/Brooklyn Dodgers, beat the Orix Buffaloes in Game 7 of the Japan Series last night for their first championship in 38 years, ending The Curse of Colonel Sanders (!!!) in the process.
Hanshin won its first Japan Series title since 1985 — the year their fans celebrated by throwing a statue of Colonel Sanders in a canal.
Also of note, the Buffaloes' ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, threw a 138-pitch (!!!) complete game in Game 6, breaking Yu Darvish's Japan Series single-game record with 14 strikeouts. Yamamoto has won 3 straight pitching Triple Crowns and is expected to sign with an MLB team this offseason.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Saw videos of that on Twitter complete with a dude dressed as Colonel Sanders jumping into the river in celebration
That and Hayes from the Pirates won the gold gloveComment
