I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Wakefield's wife Stacy has pancreatic cancer, which has an even worse survival rate than Tim's brain cancer. I can't even imagine being terminally ill yourself and having to watch your spouse pass away. And they have a couple kids around 18-20 years old. It's just brutal.

It was weird to hear of his death right after that. Obviously he wasn't doing well leading up to it, but you feel like when you first hear the news that maybe that's just the beginning of its development. I had no idea he was pretty much meeting his end. So I'm not sure I was ready for that. It may have made it harder for me.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: MLB Off-Topic
So apparently Rays fans are crying and complaining about the playoff scheduling, saying 3 PM isnt fair to those who have work and other obligations, yet Minnesota had their game at 4:30 and had almost 40K fill that stadium. When are they gonna realize the fans just dont care about the team.Last Movie Watched: Morbius (2022).

If your team didn't blow a huge lead after starting like 90-10 or whatever, you could have avoided this round altogether. Fact is, the rest of the country doesn't care about Tampa baseball either, so that's why you got that time slot. 🫠

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Great nutshell summary of Jerry DiPoto in the Mariners end-of-year presser yesterday;
"If you go back and you look in a decade, those teams that win 54% of the time always wind up in the postseason. And they, more often than not, wind up in the World Series"
1 of the last 20 World Series teams finished with only 87 wins. 2022 Phillies.

I don't get how the MLB is approving the Rays getting a new stadium at what seems like a location blocks away from this one. What does that even solve? Sure the stadium will be better, but it's the same crowd going to the games.Comment

The least attended (non pandemic) Playoff crowd in over 100 years.

It's a sinkhole, move on to a city that wants them.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
If Rays fans blame time of game...
You got 19,700 for a playoff game.
Your stadium holds up to 42,700 but 25,000 when seats are tarped.
Only time all season you had non tarped was a Yankees game on a weekend in May, and clearly it wasn't because of your fans.
Only other times it was full tarped capacity were:
Weekend July series vs Braves (obviously Braves fans contribute to this)
Saturday game in July vs Os
Saturday game in August vs Cleveland
Their largest non special event (aka home opener, 4th of july) Monday-Thursday attended game all season was a Thursday vs Boston when Rays were 12-0 and drew 21,000 fans.
So don't blame the playoff timing. Even during the season they only draw close to 25,000 during Yankees, special event/holiday or weekend series.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
How much is another city prepared to pay, that's the question. St. Petersburg is offering to pay for at least 50% of stadium construction. If Austin or Charlotte or Portland or Montreal (haha) offered to pay for 75% of a brand new stadium and moving expenses, it'd probably happen.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. But it seems like the MLB wants almost the inverse. They'd only consider a city if plans were already made to fund a certain percentage BEFORE even being considered.Comment

As much as I'd love the Expos to return, the chances of Quebec taxpayers ponying up a billion dollars for an MLB team are less than zero.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. But you know the way owners work, it'll be the opposite. They want a guarantee of a team and then will figure things out after.Comment
