Maybe...I just can't believe I log in and find 3 pages of or so of this discussion. I guess I don't see the big deal with the entire situation."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

There really isn't anything going on. If there is something else to talk about right now I think we would all benefit from it but I can't come up with anything. If you can, by all means, do so.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
So the WBC isn't until next Spring, but I saw where players are leaving teams in ST to go play for their countries in qualifiers. What do people think of the WBC?
I dread it coming about every 4 years. For one, it really messes with the "routine" of the regular season as players aren't in camp with their teams and it pushes the regular season start back a week or so. Secondly, for some of the teams (ahem, USA), the best players don't play and treat it like an exhibition anyway. I can't blame a Clayton Kershaw or Mike Trout for not playing as anything other than MLB regular season games are exhibition in a way, but it really takes away from the luster.
Anyway...I just dread when this tournament rolls around. Just don't like it."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Not to drag the topic back but it was a verbal agreement and not contractual. Like they had a verbal agreement that LaRoche wouldn't completely suck.

Not that March is any better."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: MLB Off-Topic
WBC is a glorified exhibition. Yet I go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ since otherwise I wouldn't get to see some of the stars that play in the tournament (usually PR is one of the hosting venues).
Yet this isn't even the "real" WBC, it is the qualifier. The actual WBC is taking place in 2017.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Speaking of the WBC there are two regional finals being broadcast on MLB-N this weekend.
Back to the LaRoche thing for one second, as AC said it was a verbal agreement but even if it was written down I think a perk like that is one of those things that an employer can and should unilaterally change if it's not working out for both sides. Obviously something changed whereby the Chi-Sox felt that LaRoche's kid couldn't be there EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. As I understand it, they didn't go from "Yeah, he can be there all the time." to "Sorry Adam, he can't be there ever again." It really seems to me like Adam LaRoche was the one that made this a bigger story than it had any right to be.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Williams is taking the blows as management should do in these scenarios. As a person in that position at work, it happens. It often goes unappreciated but the tension not taking the blame could create between coworkers makes it necessary."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
