In other news, Dodgers minor league pitcher Adrian Salcedo has been suspended 144 games for PEDs. He was suspended 80 games in April for a stimulant, and 100 games in September for a PED and stimulant.

For those doing the math at home, he still had 94 games on his previous suspension. Add this new full-season suspension to that, and Mr. Salcedo is not eligible to pitch until game 95 of the 2017 season.

And if you're doing the other math, he's got 2 PED strikes and 2 stimulant strikes. If he gets busted with one more of either, he'll join Shoeless Joe, Pete Rose, and Jenrry Mejia on the lifetime ban list.
    Youre hilarious

You don't think having your kid in the clubhouse 100% of the time is a bit much? I know I'd have a problem with it if we were teammates.

Apparently his teammates loved the kid but it seems a little bit extra to me. Kid was taking time off school for vacations. LaRoche "isn't much for school" or whatever. I'm not gonna judge, but...

Laroche is a whiny baby and nobody cares if he retires. In fact the Sox are probably happy he did.

Exactly, the teammates didn't have a single issue with it.

Chicago (among other cities) banned smokeless tobacco at sporting events. Didn't realize this applied to players/personnel, too, but some Cubs aren't to happy with it.

I'm not sure how I feel about that...I am not a tobacco user at all, but smokeless tobacco products don't impact anyone but the user, no? If that's the case, why would you ban them? I'd rather they ban cell phone use at sporting events before smokeless tobacco!

Wait I thought they banned kids in the workplace, not smokeless tobacco.

Or am I confusing recent events in Chicago?

No it is disgusting, you don't swallow it, so it effects others having to watch you spit it out on the ground/floor or cup.

Being there everyday is extreme. It's not a weekend, or just before games and then go sit in the stands with mom, its everyday in the clubhouse and dugout.

I would think most teammates would say it was fine to the media, but I'm sure some would rather he not be there. While it is just a game, it is your job and you should be focusing on that, not on your kid.

Plus it's not normal to take your kid everywhere with you, so he probably doesn't get a lot of interactions with other kids his own age since he is there everyday.

The Sox are totally happy if they get all his $13 million back. They can probably spend it in better ways than on 1 Adam LaRoche.

If that's how you are, great. If someone's a fiery player, let them be. If someone's stoic then that's cool too. Just don't go pimping HRs in the first inning or flipping out cuz you got a grounder to end the 3rd inning during some random game in May.

Last thing I want and that baseball needs is for people to force it all and make it even more of some sideshow thing like the NHL with fights, the NFL with all the stupid talk about signs and banners and gestures and dances, etc. I'm sick of the distraction bull**** in other sports and it's pushed me most to baseball. I don't want to sour on, quite frankly, the only sport I have left. Other factors have already led me to souring on it. Don't want to go further. I like talking about how awesome Trout, Harper, Kershaw, Cabrera etc are in terms of their performance.

Baseball is the greatest game on the planet. We don't need gimmicks.
Extremely well said. Yes, I'm over 36. I have the same concerns as above. It laughable when a WR gets an 11 yard catch to make a first down in the 2nd quarter when trailing by 17 points already and goes into a WWE pose while reminding everyone which way the team is going.

Re: LaRoche. I don't think it's called "Bring Your Kid to Work Season". I could be wrong.

On the unwritten rules, it depends. I like the emotion, but as some have said, make it emotional and intense and not a sideshow. Someone on Bill Simmons' podcast made the point that people are confusing intensity and showboating. In 03 when Posada hits his double and is on 2nd, he's screaming his lungs out because he's hyped. He's not dancing or doing a one man play, he's just letting it out. I think the Bautista bat flip was the same, more showy just by the action, but I think it was an issue of intensity as opposed to one of trying to show up the other team.

Laroche? Yeah that's ridiculous. Not that he'd want his son there, but that he feels he's owed it. Im only 22 so I don't have kids or anything, but I do have a job and the company makes the rules period. He didn't want to abide by them and did what he could, I have no issue with that either. Basically, they made a rule (their right), he didn't like it and bailed (his right as well) so nothing went wrong there IMO. That's about as tame as something could go, there shouldn't be any controversy.

Yeah the Laroche thing is pretty ridiculous and "not being much for school" um.....Yeah, I guess having made a lot of money you could "afford" to have a ******* kid.

I wouldn't mind his kid hanging out after the school year during home games and be a bat boy. (a la Baker's or was it Bonds' kid)
