It's mostly fair to say that younger folks have a more liberal vantage point and are less set in their moral right/wrong constructs.

This is all pure speculation because I have no evidence. But, the discourse is strikingly different than it used to be. If you were to say the same thing you did today about being laissez-faire over PEDs back in 2005, instead of people liking your post, they probably would've called you a "moran."

It could be as simple as people changing their opinions over time instead of a generational thing.
Going to assume you meant to put moron, if not correct me, but yes plenty of people did call me a moron for the way I was battling for Bonds, McGuire, Sosa, Clemens, etc...because I didn't care.

I hold most people's opinions very low unless I know they can back it up. That is something I always have done.

I also know how hard it is to play baseball as I played it up to college, so anyone doing something in MLB is incredible. Doing what Bonds did, or A-Rod, that is remarkable.

That has always been my thought. Never once did I go on the, I guess you would say majority, idea that juicers ruined baseball blah blah BS.

Edit: Interesting, moran is an urban dictionary word. Couldn't find a true definition except for there...but yes I have always had an opposite view on most things baseball.

No, I used moran in quotes for effect. Like how people say "your an idiot." Just a little riff on how dumb the average internet commentariat comes off being.

The point here is you acknowledged what the majority opinion was (used to be). Looking at the discussion now, I'm not sure that we can substitute is in for was anymore. That tells me that the perception has been changing. What is the definition of "is" again?

Aside from that, it's McGwire, not McGuire. That always bugs me, sort of like the people that say Maddox was the greatest pitcher they've seen...it rings sort of hollow unless you can spell the player's name (no offense).

Well basically done here it seems haha.

Also for the McGuire...*shrug* I hope I irk you again with my spelling of it because that's how I think it should be spelt [emoji14]

Edit: I do know that's how it is written out, just typed it like that this one time. Glad it made it "hollow" seemed more offensive for you as I could care less. My brother always calls Ryan Braun, Scott Braun and I don't really care...just personal preference there, but silly to point out.

I wonder if Kyle Hendricks will get any Cy Young consideration.

After another great start, he's 11-7 with a 2.17 ERA.

If Kershaw comes back this year, he probably gets it, but otherwise it'll be an interesting race (Strasburg, Arrieta, Fernandez, Syndergaard, Cueto, Bumgarner, Scherzer...take your pick). More wide open than last year, when the three-headed Greinke/Arrieta/Kershaw monster was clearly ahead of everyone else.

I like the idea of Hendricks, but he still needs a few more innings pitched for me. I know Bumgarner is at the very top, but Bumgarner has thrown 23% more innings than Hendricks has so far. That's a pretty substantial number.

Yeah, I think Bumgarner's numbers are stronger at the moment. More IP, about the same ERA, more WAR, better K/9 and BB/9. 1 fewer win, 1 fewer loss. It'll be interesting to see how these guys distinguish themselves down the stretch. Strasburg really the only one with a shot at 20 wins. Scherzer maybe can get to 300 Ks. Unlikely for anyone to be sub-2 ERA this year (Kershaw probably won't qualify).

Continuing on with the Ichiro news/facts...

Ichiro's 2,444 singles are 7th all time. He actually has the highest percentage of anyone in the 3,000 hit club as singles (81.47%).

Ichiro has by far the fewest GIDPs of any player in the 3,000 hit club (88).

Ichiro also has the fewest runs scored of any player in the 3,000 hit club (1,379 and threatening Tony Gwynn's 1,383). He also has the fewest RBIs by a mile (750).

Ichiro has the 6th most stolen bases in the 3,000 hit club (507).

A couple of guys that you may have heard of, but didn't break into the 3,000 hit club are Barry Bonds (2,935) and Babe Ruth (2,873). If just 10% of their 2,000+ BBs went as hits instead, Barry would have 3,190 hits and the Babe would have 3,079 hits. Heck, if just a fraction of their intentional walks went as singles, they'd likely be in the club.
