Re: MLB Off-Topic
It's amazing to me how phenominal those late 90s teams were...Thome, Manny, Alomar brothers, Vizquel, Lofton...gosh, it must have been a joy to watch them every day.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

They were also one of first teams I ever knew about. I think I might've even known about them before the Jays. Nagy,Colon,Gooden were the main guys from their teams I remember. Even bought a Cleveland Indians hat at one point.Comment

Intentional Talk, along with the MLBNetork logo, is airing on ESPN2.
Yeah, that's not odd at all.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Yeah in the ESPN thread I said that was odd....Having the MLB-N logo on there as well was unexpected by me and THAT is really odd. Did they make any mention of the fact that they're simulcasting on ESPN2?Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: MLB Off-Topic
About the stuff at Fenway and likely other ballparks and arenas(for NHL and NBA)...they absolutely need to be stricter on this kind of stuff. Surely with the hundreds of fans sitting within earshot can point out that fan and/or ushers see this happening and take action. Isn't that kinda the ushers job?
Get those people out of there and banned from the building for good. Go ahead and heckle a player, tell him how much he sucks, but taking it to a beyond unnecessary level is unacceptable and to me it's more surprising that fans, ushers, teams aren't more alert about this type of stuff and actions aren't regularly taken. The fact that guys have come out and stated things like that being regular occurrence shows that the ballpark staff, team and fans aren't doing good job at all pinpointing and punishing those people.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
NPR tweeted out they were "considering" a lifetime ban for users of racial epithets. Seems like a no brainer to me, I can't imagine what consideration needs to be taken into account. Regardless, there was another incident of someone using the slur against the singer of the national anthem. They were removed after complaint and banned. President of the Sox says he can't recall a time a fan was banned other than this incident, leading me to question what has been done in the past regarding this long history. I still haven't seen anything indicating punishment for the Jones incident.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

And the red sox one yesterday, wasn't the only reason they got banned was due to confrontation with a fan? Meaning the ones saying these things to players still get away with it.
I agree with releasing names. It's similar to breaking the law. If you get arrested on the streets, your name is on the news. Why should things like racial attacks at games not be viewed as same law breaking manner? If you're stupid enough to do things like that, you deserve to face consequences. Not just ban from building, but show people in your life the person you are.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
In my experience, people who hold these attitudes are not afraid to do so in public (clearly) and are well known to hold them among their peers. I'd ask the question of how a guy yelling this ignorant **** could have survived the crowd in the first place but it's pointless. I just can't believe they're not already banning the people. How can they claim to take the issue seriously at all?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Did people forget the media guy in Toronto that hurled racist epithets at Adam Jones? His name and picture was all over the place and he lost his job over it. I say that's EXACTLY the way these bastards should be treated. I have no sympathy for anyone who proudly wields the weapon of racism against others.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
