The writer who threw the beer can on to the field at the Toronto Baltimore game has been banned from the Skydome, as Adam Silver would say, FOR LIFE, and a 12 month ban in all other major league parks. Different sites give different info, but it looks like he's got a year probation, 100+ hours of community service as well.

Random acknowledgement question: say in a 0-0 tie game one team has two consecutive RBI singles and they ultimately win the game 2-1, which hitter is credited with the "game-winning hit"?

Technically speaking the 2nd RBI is the game winning hit. Had the game ended 2-0, I would say technically the first RBI would actually be the game winner.

And if this is in reference to the World Series, in my opinion Montero had the game-winning RBI, since it was the one that brought home the run that gave them the lead.

I've always interpreted it as the guy who got the RBI that put his team up 1 more run that the other team's final score. So the guy with the 2nd RBI single, in your example. The phrase "proved to be the game-winning hit" I think expresses my sentiment best.

              Thanks.

And nah didn't have to do with Montero or anybody. I was just listening to the radio when they said that Hwang's home run for the Giants proved to be the winning run, and since it was early in the game I was sitting there thinking: "What happened if they scored more runs and then the Rockies still closed the gap? Would his still be the 'winning run'?"

I'd rather listen to Mitch Williams than Byrnes...

I'd like to have DeRosa and Thome on MLB Tonight vs. MLB Central.

So here's how much the game has changed in the last 30-40 years. This stat was given out in the middle of the Jays game yesterday so I don't know if it's increased but June saw 32 lead off HRs to start a game. The MOST in a month in the history of baseball.

                  It's crazy!

I think last month set the record for HRs in a month, and this month is on pace to break it, too.

Probably has more to do with the individual leading off the ball game than anything else. I wonder if they have a way of comparing the number of home runs from the #1-3 hitters (from the first inning) in this month to any other month. It would probably tend to be equal to other ones.

Except the ball definitely is flying this month in general regardless, and the Giants are only helping that number out on the pitching side of things.

Let them freaking celebrate. It's hard as hell to hit a 4 inch round ball with a 3 inch round bat. It's even harder to hit it 400 feet. You wanna dab? Go for it. Wanna see how high your bat flip goes? Go for it.
