NFL equipment doesn't hide personality though. I don't need to see Cam's face to know it's him dabbing or celebrating. In the Instagram era, what 15 second video of Mike Trout can you show someone that will differentiate him from any other player? Once you have that video, anyone can come across it and be made aware. I don't think a lot of baseball players have a signature. The only place to differentiate for the most part are stance and delivery. I do agree obviously that NFL QB's have an inherent popularity that goes into them, but the game also offers opportunities to show personality where baseball doesn't.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Let them freaking celebrate. It's hard as hell to hit a 4 inch round ball with a 3 inch round bat. It's even harder to hit it 400 feet. You wanna dab? Go for it. Wanna see how high your bat flip goes? Go for it.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
To be fair, most of the guys that don't like the nicknames also don t like the celebrating. I don't think there's three group of fans.
There are those that say go for it and those that scoff at the thought.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Lol, imagine the outrage. Or pretty much any of those signature celebrations we see in the NFL or NBA.
Instead we have guys get heat for taking too long rounding the bases after a HR. People breaking out the stop watch lol. It's by far the least physical of all the major sports, and yet players are the most sensitive about being shown up.
A Linebacker completely levels a RB, celebrates, and the RB just goes back to the huddle like it didn't happen. James Harden hits a jumper with a guy right in his face, does that "stir the pot" celebration, and the defender just jogs back and moves on.
The day when baseball players and fans relax with the outrage over showing attitude and swagger will be a good day.Comment

Which is stupid. "Hey kids, you can score but if you celebrate too much, they're gonna throw at you next time."

Granted, it's summer ball, so it's not taken as seriously anyway.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Today is the 14th anniversary of the Red Sox scoring 14 runs in the first inning of a 25-8 rout of the Marlins. That inning they batted around twice, and their half of the inning alone lasted 50 minutes.
Which is almost crazy considering that was the year Florida won the World Series.Boston Red Sox

Statcast with some good old fashioned running speeds...
Kris Bryant is the fastest regular 3B in baseball. Cody Bellinger is a top 25 runner in baseball, lol. What a stud.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Earlier today, umpire John Tumpane saved a woman’s life on the Roberto Clemente Bridge.
This part got to me:
“I just wanted to get a better look of the city from this side,” she replied, according to the umpire’s recollection.
“Oh no,” Tumpane said, hooking his arm around hers. “You don’t want to do that. It’s just as good over here. Let’s go grab some lunch and talk.”
“No, no, no,” she answered. “I’m better off on this side. Just let me go.”
“I’m not going to let you go,” he said. “Let’s talk this out. We’ll get you back over here.”
“No one wants to help me,” she repeated. “Just let me go.”
“No, we’re here to help you.”
“You’ll forget me tomorrow.”
“I’ll never forget you,” he said. “You can have my promise on that.”OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment
