I believe Sportsnet had a segment on him and they mentioned that they don't think he has the skills to hang as a 3B in the bigs.
Might be wrong about that though.
The feeling is if Donaldson is gone they will give Vlad Jr. every chance he can at 3B but eventually he may be moved to one of the corner OF spots.

Nice list but Ohtani doesn't belong on it. He's not a prospect for goodness sakes!

        3. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. | 3B | Blue Jays

To follow up on this...as I dug into the list, I realized that Kevin Maitan isn't on the list at all. He was rated pretty highly IIRC last year without having even played a game...apparently scouts weren't too impressed with what they did see.

He didn't hit well at Danville and showed almost no power (only hit 2 HR's between Danville and the GCL Braves). His fielding took a bit of a hit at Danville. Committed 10 errors in 33 games.

Only hit .241 combined between the GCL and Danville. Lets see how he does in the Angels system. He has time on his side.

Right...and I still think he'll be a good player. I remember last year at one point comparing his numbers to Miggy Cabrera (they were the same age in their first pro season) and his were comparable. Maitan is so young...I think he has tremendous upside.

I think he'll just go by "The Impaler" at that point.

Canadian spelling of "check" also very underrated, btw. Kudos to you, sir.

A-Rod is joining ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, and Matty V might also be replacing Dan Shulman on the team.

                  I loathe A-Rod.
I hate any player that abused PED's and I firmly believe he used his entire career - probably as far back as highschool.
Saying that, I've enjoyed him as a baseball analyst.
I also respect how much he loves the game.
In Joe Torres book, he described a story about A-Rod after he had been traded to the Yanks.
After a night game, a bunch of them went back to Jeter's apartment to hang out.
The first thing A-Rod did was jump on the couch, grab the remote and look for a west-coast game.
When he couldn't find it, he asked Jeter if he had the MLB package?
Jeter just laughed and said no. A-Rod couldn't believe it.
As Torre wrote, the only game Jeter ever watched was the one he was playing in.

I've heard countless stories about how much A-Rod loves the sport and is consumed by it.
If he wasn't playing the game, he was watching it.

He's sure running the Marlins as if he has no interest in watching baseball. Too soon?

Finally those ESPN ****s did something right. Now make sure Jessica Mendoza stops laughing for no reason at all and get rid of the stupid strike zone overlay and maybe you'll have something.

I'm glad we can get back into a position where people hate A-Rod again, things were way too out of wack. No way they change the network to accommodate him, we'll be getting A-Rod hate comments by May.

Alex did give insightful analysis on the pre-game. I think he'll do a great job...maybe he's just auditioning for the Yanks job next year. [emoji6]

I think A-Rod has been an excellent analyst and while i hate him as a player he's done very well in his post baseball life. There was even a smattering of talk that he would make a great manager. I dunno if i'd go that far but his reputation seems to have been completely rehabbed. It's amazing how people can totally change their tune once hated players start to talk to them and warm up to the media overall.

I wouldn't take much stock in the Matty V thing. I heard last night on the Richard Dietsch podcast that the PBP boils down to either Karl Ravech or John Schiambi. Things could've changed in the last 24+ hrs so who knows? (he recorded the episode during the noon hour yesterday)

Vlad Jr got an 80 hit rating from MLB Pipeline. The first ever prospect to get that high. He also got 65 power rating.

Unfortunately, these numbers don't really mean much because a guy like Seager got 60 hit and 60 power, and a guy like Judge got 55 hit and 60 power.

But if Vlad can actually turn into the type of player everyone is saying he will be, then Jays better keep him forever. Make him the one guy who can spend his entire career with the franchise. Sad part, of all guys who spent their entire career with the Jays, Garth Iorg is the leader(9 seasons), which is a pathetic fact about the shape of the franchise. For once, develop and KEEP the stars.
