Re: MLB Off-Topic
I was thinking a little bit about this mound visit rule and how everyone thinks it's dumb, toothless, pointless etc...so, do you think that's really the point? That MLB wants it to prove useless? For Manfred to say "well, we didn't want the pitch clock so we tried some other stuff even though the MLBPA won't negotiate with us and it didn't work so we NEED the pitch clock [and possibly other stupid stuff like neutering extra inning games] for 2019/2020."
The more I think about it, the more I tend to see it as sleight of hand by MLB rather than a good faith effort to actually speed the games up. I realize this sounds conspiratorial, but I can't really see it as a thing people might assume could work?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
In the offseason Manfred was talking like the pitch clock was a lock for this season, and when he backed down the impression I got was that he was basically saying, "okay, players and coaches, here's your chance to make a honest effort to improve pace of play without the clock." I think the mound visit thing is more or less just a reminder to clubs that pace is still something that is a priority.Comment

The Braves triple-A affiliate changed its name from the Braves to Stripers this season - the winner was "Big Mouth" but apparently the team didn't like how that sounded (right?)
More importantly, one of the contenders was "Sweet Teas"...I say this is a big missed opportunity in my book.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Branch Rickey's scouting reports have been digitized by the Library of Congress....this is so so good. I just read his report on Roberto Clemente in 1955. Rickey was disappointed in Clemente's mere above average speed and that he wasn't a "risk taker" nor a home run hitter.
A real treasure trove of baseball history here. Enjoy.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I might be missing something, but the article that mentioned the name change makes it out as if his sister is a cult leader with mind control over him. It was a weird read for sure.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Pretty good read about the White Sox Stadium that never was..............
Also there were some poorly attended games last night and in the last week (mostly weather related).

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Can't have AL hosting back to back ASGs lol.
Dodgers are long overdue for an ASG. If there's no plans to have a new stadium within the next decade, then hopefully Jays might get 2021 game(30 years from their last one). Who knows, maybe Vlad/Bo will be mainstays in the MLB by then.
Only cities who haven't held it since 2000:
Boston-99
Baltimore-93
Philadelphia-96
Oakland-87
Toronto-91
Arlington-95
Denver-98
St.Petersburg-Never
Of those 8, A's/Rays won't get it until they get new stadiums. So that leaves the remaining 6 cities here who should get from 21-26, and then 27-28 games go to whatever stadium the A's/Rays franchises end up in.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Quick question for you guys..
Im thinking of getting a new Brewers jersey this season, so a couple question I want to get some thoughts on before I decide,
1) should i really get one now, or wait for the UA rebrand?
2) should i pay up for the authentic, or go replica without the extra patch(es)?
3) should i forget about #2 and take a chance on a knockoff?PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment
