The insane part is that they think he's gonna be out until 2020.

      That really sucks.

6 man rotations don't work if your players that can't stay healthy. The Angels have pretty much proved that. Said that would be the case before the season started.

Not surprising, when he signed with LAA someone leaked his medical records and it was already known that he had a bad elbow. It was just a matter of time.

LOL. The Ohtani thing escalated quickly. Remember he came out of his last start with a "blister."

He has my vote for "the ROY if you're extrapolating things out" award.

Hopefully he comes back in 2020 as a force to help poor Mike Trout.

I'm probably the last person in the world to realize this connection, but the Angels have reeled in both a Salmon and a Trout.

Have they had a Fisher or anything at all?

                      A quick search reveals

Todd Fischer (some guy who only had a cup of coffee in '86)

                      and

Eddie Fisher (a longtime pitcher who was an all-star in '65 and won a WS in '66. He was with the Angels from '69-'72)

Just from a pure baseball fans perspective. The Ohtani injury just sucks. Angels were looking like a really dangerous team too.

I'd hate to do it. But I'd just make Ohtani a every day position player when he comes back. No reason to dabble with him as a pitcher anymore.

I wonder if they'll consider having him DH full time next year while he continues to rehab.

Apparently the Angels have not said yet he absolutely needs TJS.

Well that's no fun. He could have had a mild ankle sprain and the knee-jerk reaction from tons of people would have been to just pick one position or the other. I sure hope the Angels don't cave and throw away his potential at both.

Wait a sec...are you guys saying this post was unsubstantiated? Are we gonna have to start requiring linked sources or what? Sad how "grade 2 UCL sprain with potential to have surgery" became "he needs TJ."
