I think the Mariners are going to get in on Soto.

4 of the top 100 prospects currently. Marte should be ready for 2023. They can part with Hancock, or Kirby, who has frontline stuff. I would imagine Kelenic is still pretty intriguing for alot of teams, he was rated higher than Julio at one point.

The payroll is miniscule, so they can afford whatever Boras is going to push on them. Even if they didn't get a deal done, he's under team control through 2024.

Plenty of talk about DiPotos future. 7 offseasons to build this thing. This deal alone would buy him a short term extension.

The thought of Julio and Soto for the next decade (.. sorry, I need to go change my pants)

... it does look like the Cardinals can put the best package together though. Thats the deal I'd take, no question.

I'm worried the Rangers may push him too soon like they typically do with young prospects. It's worked for most of the hitters, but pitchers are a different story. The front office pushed Jack Leiter to AA to start his career and it's not going well at all...guy is getting absolutely shelled.

Julio ran through a derby simulation before yesterdays game.

        ... hit 37 bombs.

        CANNOT WAIT for tonight.

I don't see how Soto lands anywhere but LA and NYY.

No shot the Nats trade him to the Mets.

Sleeper team is St. Louis. I think Goldschmidt contract almost up.

            Goldschmidt's contract runs through 2024

I dont think they have the ammo to pull it off, but if the Mets offer the best trade package they’d be foolish not to accept it

I don't feel like teams shy away from trading within the division much anymore. I know the A's have made multiple trades within the division over the years even back when they gave a **** and were trying to compete.

That was a good HR Derby. Julio put on a show. But Soto closed it down.

I think that's true with most players but not someone of Soto's caliber.

Wasn't it the case that the Nats refused to deal Scherzer to the Mets a few years ago?

I also remember the Florida(at the time) Marlins refusing to trade Miguel within the division.

I wouldn't say never, I'd guess there's a hefty premium on trading within the division.

Side note, any shot of Soto pulling an NBA type move and making it known he isn't signing an extension and testing the market regardless of who he is traded to(unless it's the Mets)? I'm sure Boras wants the Mets involved in a contract battle against other teams and we've seen Cohen not shy away from spending.

I saw a stat saying that there have been 2 walk off home runs by an away team.

Now I'm wondering when this happened and how it happened.

Only thing I can think of is playing a relocated game in the other teams ballpark and you get to bat last since it was originally your home game.

That happened to the Mets. In 2020 the Mets had a game that was supposed to be in Citi Field vs the Yankees rescheduled at Yankee stadium and won with a walkoff. I wouldn’t consider that the away team getting a walkoff though

I think the Phillies, White Sox and Mariners are all set up for a big second half. As for the AL East, it’s gonna be a tight race for the playoffs. Ultimately I see the Red Sox and Blue Jays making the wild card with the Rays falling just short

Why don't think the Rays pitching can maintain what they've done in the first half? They aren't walking many guys, ERA is sub-3.40, and they're the 5th best team in defensive efficiency. I don't watch the Rays enough to make a good assumption, I'm just basing my question on first half statistics and trends.

Jays looking into hosting the ASG in 2027.

They're starting renovations in their stadium that'll span a few seasons, so I'd imagine it's done by 2027.

That would tie in with the Jays 50th anniversary, their first ASG in almost 40 years, and would be the final ASG at the Rogers Centre.

Their pitching is fantastic and frankly, always has been the strong point of that team. I’m more concerned about their lineup and the team’s ability to put up runs against the rest of that division. Yandy Diaz shouldn’t exactly be carrying that batting order and we see the loss of Austin Meadows at lead off spot was a bigger deal than they may have anticipated
