Sell the team now to some new owners with deep pockets and let them offer Soto one of the biggest MLB extensions ever. The Lerners are not going to pay him want he wants.

The Haul should be High. I'm ranking possibilities as SF, STL, SD, LAD, NYY, CHISOX

Celebrities eh? I only recognize 2 people but they don't count since one is Fitzpatrick which was trending on Twitter because his beard looks crazy and the other is Bad Bunny who pretty much any Puerto Rican would recognize.

But I don't want to make a joke about baseball dying/not being able to get real celebrities since it may just be that I'm out of step with the zeitgeist :P

When you say Fitzpatrick are you talking about Walter White? Simu Liu (Shang-Chi/Jung Kim), Coi Leray, Quavo, Desus and Mero, Jennie Finch, Action Bronson, Joel McHale, I think that’s the new Dr. Manhattan in front. Not the worst crop.

Outside of Finch I believe I'm looking at Matt Kemp in the back (and maybe Shawn Green?) and Simu Liu on the front corner.

And I don't know what he looks like now, but given that they're in LA is Fernando Valenzuela the mustached man in the middle row?

I'm sure many others are athletes or there are other well-known celebrities there and I'm just not connecting the dots. Like there absolutely has to be a Rams player there somewhere, and I mean it's Hollywood, I'm not sure why there aren't more strikingly known celebs pictured.

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I've said this before, but ehh might as well bring it up again as it becomes relevant:

I was hoping when they mic'ed up the umpires for replay review, it was for the sake of transparency to the fans and television viewers. Instead, it is there for no reason whatsoever.

The Giants challenged a tag out call at third base thinking their player made it, and while he beat the tag it held onto the runner as he was off for part of the slide. The crowd only sees that the runner beat the slide, but don't see/comprehend that the runner's slide took him off the bag for a brief moment while the tag was held on. If the umpire mentions this after the review, then things will become clearer to everybody. If they don't, you're left with a cloud of confusion.

Why they mic'ed them up and don't provide this kind of information when it's sort of needed is beyond me.

EDIT: And I'm sure I've mentioned this again, but PitchCom is dreadful and takes more time than it saves. Just don't allow electronic sign-stealing and continue the greatness of the game which is working creative signs and trying to pick them off 2B, etc.

The mustachioed gentleman in the middle row is Guillermo Rodriguez. He's Jimmy Kimmel's sidekick/security guard on his show.

                        Gotcha, thanks!

And is that JoJo Siwa behind him? Trying to place who that is, but can't remember if that's her or somebody else. I believe she was in last year's so it's probably her.

The Rangers took a big chance using the #3 pick on Kumar Rocker. With his age and work at Vandy, they must be thinking he'll be ready to compete in the majors within their winning windows (next year or so).

When reading about prospects and all, I know a few teams (Cards one of them) felt that if healthy, Rocker could be big league ready in 2024. Not sure if that will pan out, or how strongly clubs actually felt that to be true, but obviously the Rangers have high expectations as to how quickly he can reach the majors.

The umps should definitely be providing more but who knows how much detail they are even getting.

Sign stealing couldn't be stopped. I'm actually surprised that it hasn't leaked that a teams is using AI in real-time to steal the signs. It would be simple to plug all the averages for pitcher and batter and create a model that determines what each pitch will be. Then add in the signs and I'm sure it could figure them out in a few pitches.

NFL challenges have the best format/explanation of all the major leagues.

MLB and NHL I find have the worst.

What's the point of being miced up just to say a generic line, no explanation, and move on from there.

Even on TV, they'll show the replays dozens of times, and if the review comes out different than it appears on all the replays they showed on the broadcast, the TV feed suddenly finds the feed that best confirms what the decision ended up being.
