Before the Blue Jays came into existence, the Giants came thisclose to moving to Toronto and giving the NL two Canadian teams. I really believe the Expos would still be in Montreal if they could have developed a rivalry with Toronto back in the Eighties. I hope to live long enough to see an AL expansion include a return to Montreal. I would also like to see the NL expand to New Orleans or Charlotte. Then in a perfect world (for me) the six 5 team divisions could revert to 4 eight team divisions.

Originally Toronto's MLB team was going to be an NL team but at some point the NL owners backed out and the people on the Toronto side had to work like hell to get an approval from the AL. We're pretty lucky that the AL owners were looking for a 2nd expansion team along with the Mariners in '77.

Apparently AA and AAA will have a pitch clock this year.

I really wish they didn't go the clock route first. I'd rather they let the umps in the field police the rules already in place. There are other ways to speed up the pace of the game that doesn't include putting a clock on the wall.

They've done that before and it has NEVER worked. Either the umps enforce it strictly and then people end up crying about how unfair it is or the umps TRY to enforce it but just slide back to the way it's always been.

I've seen a couple of the AFL games with the pitch clock and it's not much different than what we see in the big leagues except well, there isn't as much dawdling around by the pitchers.

Other things that are less drastic then putting a clock up would include limiting mound visits and not allowing the batters out if the box on non swings.

I think they're going to push for that along with the pitch clock. It seemed to work well at the AFL level. If the pitch clock works well in AA-AAA this coming season I can see those other rules tried out in the minors for the '16 season.

I hate the clock rule and thankfully since it would have to be approved by the players union I doubt it ever makes it to the MLB level.

Maybe a clock down there will ingrain a sense of urgency but I hope it never makes it to the majors. Baseball is supposed to be the game without a clock.

Charging minor leaguers $1000 when they don't even pay most of them a living wage? That's a joke.
