Now 69 is the lowest number no Red Sox player has never worn in their franchise history.

No Yankee has ever worn #0 either. It's the only single digit number not retired either. Is there a rule against it?

Ohtani recommended to have TJS after reportedly new damage to elbow. LAA has had some terrible luck with pitchers.

I don't know if it's bad luck, this normally goes with people who have that kind of injury and try to recover from it instead of just getting the surgery, only to end up having the surgery later.

Way to give Yankees fans a panic attack.

The Angels training staff should be sent to the gulags.

Or their pitching development staff. Can't be blamed for Ohtani, but certainly could be for all of their other injuries

One has to wonder who pushed for Ohtani to make the start against Houston on Sunday. I remember reading afterwards that the quick hook wasn't due to injury and then this comes out. Me thinks they were hoping there wouldn't be a setback but well....We all saw how wrong they were.

Kind of reminds me of how the Jays a couple times have had players with various ailments almost literally before games go out and pitch only to go on the DL. (Sanchez with blisters and Estrada with his back issues)

Wasn't there a report about Ohtani's UCL right after he signed in the offseason as well?

Isn't the baseball in Japan slightly smaller than in the MLB? I wonder if the arm just never quite acclimated to the slightly bigger ball or something. Weirder things have happened.

EDIT: Upon researching it, I guess they have joined the rest of the world in baseball circumference and weight as of a few years ago. Stupid speculation on my end anyway, because even if it was smaller it would likely be indiscernible. It's not like they're suddenly throwing 12-inch softballs.

I dunno how many actual face to face meetings they'll have but i'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall when Meyer and Manfred are doing negotiations. These are two of the best legal minds when it comes to sports labor in their respective areas. This might mean the chance of a lockout/strike though.

At least Tony Clark realizes he's too much of a boob to handle these kind of high level negotiations.
