One thing to note about Clapp is that he's managing the AFL team with all the Jays prospects so that could be a huge factor for him. I'm sure Shatkins will take a look at how he deals with their prospects during the AFL season and that might play a role in his being hired or not.

As a Mets fan, Gibby will always be synonymous with our 1980 draft, the year we drafted three number ones. We all know Strawberry was selected number one in the nation. At number 23, was Billy Beane (Money ball) and at number 24, catcher, John Gibbons.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
If Gibbons does coach again, I wonder if he'd look at the Rangers possible opening as one area. He's a Texas guy (raised/lives in San Antonio), so I'm sure he might at least see if he can throw his name into that.

If Joe Mauer retires, I'm glad I paid for box seats for his last game. It was pretty great getting to be there for all of it. As a White Sox fan, without Joe Mauer, we might have never ended up with AJ Piersynski, so even playing for a rival, Joe is an important player for meSupport Local Sports

Remember he was drafted in the same year as Mark Prior. And Prior washed out of the bigs like a decade ago.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I firmly believe we have the advantage over any possible opponent.
I don't care if I'm being overly confident and annoying. This season has been unbelievable to watch unfold.Boston Red Sox
