Re: MLB Off-Topic
Manfred wants ASG to be like Super Bowl (except for the fact that they aren't even close to the same thing)
Ugh, I thought I was going to like this Commissioner. Maybe this will mean the end of the winning league having advantage in the World Series since having one league hosting the ASG for three straight years would be almost as bad as fixing the game.
Then again, maybe he'll come up with a "neutral site" World Series... ugh.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: MLB Off-Topic
So he wants teams to throw money to have the ASG...Well considering how Paul Beeston was asked about when Toronto will get the game again I think Beeston's answer about how the Jays deserve to host it sooner than later might hold a lot more water now. I can very likely see Rogers throwing a ton of money to host the game in 2018 when the Rogers Centre has grass.
BTW I agree, I was set to like Manfred but boy...He's got some crazy ideas up his sleeve.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Bidding....so in other words, Yankees will be hosting multiple all star games every decade?
Why can't they just alternate between leagues/cities. Each city can host ASG once every 30 years or something. Make ASG that much more special for the city knowing it'd be a once in a generation type of thing.
That's what I never get about sports leagues. How can a league not be that confident in some cities hosting an ASG when they do fine hosting regular games all season long. NBA for example, had ASG in Vegas, multiple ASGs in Houston/New Orleans in same decade, but there's multiple cities who've never hosted the game once, despite being around for decades.Comment

That's the current system right now. I don't see why they need to change it up.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I'm really hoping Pat Venditte, the switch pitcher, makes the big league club. He's got an invite to spring training so we'll see. This vid of him versus a switch hitter is such a cluster ****. http://youtu.be/yDyCRTlKllk
Of course a rule has been made now to prevent that from happening again.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The Super Bowl process is so well established already that it's pretty much on a rotational basis though that has been tweaked a bit in recent years. You basically have the Florida locations, Arizona, Dallas and (soon) the California stadiums. As far as I know I think in that instance it's the team owners and the city administrators that make the push for the SB but it's mostly spearheaded by the owner. I know in the case of Dallas getting the SB it was all Jerruh.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
