I'm not sure if I want him over Bonds either...that beautiful majestic swing at Fenway was always a fantasy of mine.

Dude could/should legitimately have five ****ing MVPs already.

Trout should be on his fifth MVP this year, and it ain't even close.

            Agree, for the most part.
I think he should be working on his 4th MVP as I'd still give Miggy the title in 2012.
            But I may be biased.

I can understand why Miggy won that one. I'd still personally give it to Trout, but that's splitting hairs.

Regardless, 4th or 5th he should be on.

It's not even worth discussing. Even just looking at something like wRC+, Trout blows him out of the water.

For context, Betts has the same wRC+ as Matt Carpenter.

Interesting...Cubs going with Lester, Hendricks, Arrieta, then Lackey for the NLDS. I guess the upside to this is that if for some reason the Cubs find themselves down 2-0 they have Arrieta going to stave off elimination.

It's not surprising here at all as Lester and Hendricks were easily the Cubs top 2 pitchers this season.

StI'll surprised about Bonds...he seems to not only understand but explain hitting expertly.

Miami was 4th in AVG but 26th in runs scored...I don't think the RS issue is Barry's fault.

Trout is AL MVP. There's absolutely no disputing that. The argument that he doesn't play on a contender is stupid. If voters screw him, then I'm not going to take this seriously.

I'm not huge on awards, and all that nonsense. but MVP is a big deal, these clowns better not screw that up.

Manfred on possible expansion to Montreal:

“The only thing I can say in terms of timing is this: I think there are two or three things, depending on how you count, that need to happen. First of all, we need to make a new basic agreement. Nothing is going to happen on that front until we make a new [collective bargaining agreement] with the players. [The current agreement expires in December.]

“Secondly, there are two stadium situations, Tampa and Oakland, that need to be resolved before I believe the owners have any appetite for thinking about expansion. Hopefully, we’re going to make good progress on both of those stadium situations in the relatively short term.

“And then we would begin, first, with an internal debate as to whether baseball wants to go to 32 [teams]. Assuming the owners make that decision, it would then begin the process of selecting two cities.

“I will say, in terms of schedule format, 32 teams is a nice number for us.”
Manfred is also open to the idea of Montreal hosting some regular season games in 2018 but says it's unlikely due to it being a WBC year etc etc.
