Good move for the Snakes. No fanbase should have to suffer through La Russa/Stewart as their decision makers. Hazen at least has a pulse.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Miller just had the third best xFIP- as far back as the stat goes. Wade Davis walks more guys a month than Miller did all year. I don't know how you have them in the same echelon.
It's really just Miller up there. Then I suppose Britton/Betances/Jansen/Chapman, then probably Kimbrel/Diaz, and so on.
This guy is on the mountain top with the rest of them. Take a look at his previous 3 years....
2014: 1.00 ERA, 1.19 FIP, 13.63 K/9, 2.88 BB/9, 0 HR, 3.1 fWAR
2015: 0.94 ERA, 2.29 FIP, 10.43 K/9, 2.67 BB/9, 0.40 HR/9, 2.0 fWAR
2016: 1.87 ERA, 2.29 FIP, 9.76 K/9, 3.32 BB/9, 0 HR, 1.3 fWAR
Don't know about anyone else, but I will take a reliever who has given up zero home runs in 2 of his previous 3 years and is averaging about 2.0 fWAR per year for my bullpen. He's been decent in the World Series too, btw.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Sure, that's a strawman. My post stated that Andrew Miller is discernibly better than Wade Davis, in response to you saying they're similar. No matter how much of that information of that is bolded, none of it really speaks to that point.
Miller's worst xFIP- over the last 3 years is the same as Davis' best. There's about 0.1 point keeping that true of their SIERAs, too.
Davis is probably more in line with Kimbrel or Diaz, or at the top of the next tier of guys.Last edited by AC; 10-16-2016, 08:03 PM."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I get that you'd rather use xFIP to make your point because Davis doesn't give up HRs, but c'mon. Both are elite relievers. I would take either one.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

With all those categories, why not add in ERA, LOB%, and HR/9 ?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
If I had to rank them I would go:
- Miller
- Chapman
- Betances
- Jansen
- Britton
- Davis
