Re: MLB Off-Topic
Speaking of Arizona, I know it's uncommon but the more I see them, the more I like the Dbacks uniforms.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
He wasn't in a trade, but a few years back he was a Rule 5 pick of the Phillies who returned him to the Snakes. He got called up either that year or the year after (Can't remember) and the rest is history.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Hey, a free and easy way to make a special day with the attention all on baseball?
How about a Hall of Fame Saturday on the last day of July, with the ceremony and the speeches starting at 1pm ET, followed by a full slate of games across the country starting at 6pm ET with multiple nationally televised games. Call it "National Baseball Day" or something like that. I mean, make it a damn event. Have discussion panels on TV, youth events and viewing parties across the country, etc. It's not that hard.
This business of having the Hall of Fame Ceremony going on during a normal Sunday schedule of games is absolutely absurd. I know I was watching actual baseball while the ceremony was going on live and am just now watching it recorded. You're making people choose whether to watch the ceremony or to watch live baseball? So dumb. It's a waste of history, which I believe is absolutely critical to building new fans. Since baseball "doesn't have the action and the stars" that football or basketball "does," rooting interest has to be drummed up by promoting the pageantry, the legend, the romanticism of the sport. They have to learn to appreciate the magnitude and impact of the sport along with the game.
Just so many easy things this damn league can do better. It's so frustrating.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 07-31-2017, 04:29 AM.Comment

I don't think he should have gotten a ring. That's pretty lame.
I hope this means we'll never hear about him again.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Spoiler
It actually got a statement out of Bartman:
http://wgntv.com/2017/07/31/steve-ba...pionship-ring/
“Although I do not consider myself worthy of such an honor, I am deeply moved and sincerely grateful to receive an official Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship ring. I am fully aware of the historical significance and appreciate the symbolism the ring represents on multiple levels. My family and I will cherish it for generations. Most meaningful is the genuine outreach from the Ricketts family, on behalf of the Cubs organization and fans, signifying to me that I am welcomed back into the Cubs family and have their support going forward. I am relieved and hopeful that the saga of the 2003 foul ball incident surrounding my family and me is finally over.
I humbly receive the ring not only as a symbol of one of the most historic achievements in sports, but as an important reminder for how we should treat each other in today’s society. My hope is that we all can learn from my experience to view sports as entertainment and prevent harsh scapegoating, and to challenge the media and opportunistic profiteers to conduct business ethically by respecting personal privacy rights and not exploit any individual to advance their own self-interest or economic gain.
Moreover, I am hopeful this ring gesture will be the start of an important healing and reconciliation process for all involved. To that end, I request the media please respect my privacy, and the privacy of my family. I will not participate in interviews or further public statements at this time.
Words alone cannot express my heartfelt thanks to the Ricketts family, Crane Kenney, Theo Epstein, and the entire Cubs organization for this extraordinary gift, and for providing the City of Chicago and Cubs fans everywhere an unforgettable World Championship in 2016. I am happy to be reunited with the Cubs family and positively moving forward with my life."Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
