Re: MLB Off-Topic
The point isn’t cutting ten minutes off any game. It’s speeding up guys like Masahiro Tanaka who will take over a minute between pitches at times. It may make games like that a half hour quicker, which is a big difference. And it would hopefully help keep everybody ready to go a bit more. No one is complaining when there is something happening. How do electronic strike zones account for players' heights? I'm not saying they don't, but where does that factor in (is it truly programmed to their jersey somehow or does some guy touch a button to adjust it) and which parts of the body are they set at exactly? Also, when does it "lock in place?" By the time the pitch is released?Comment

No to the electronic strike zone. I mean, what happens if the technology malfunctions mid-game?
I don't give a crap about pitch clock as it's not going to do anything in terms of speeding up the game. You want pace of play to pick up? Widen the strike zone, ditch replay, and cut down on the time between half innings.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Or you could just go to one-pitch outcomes. You either swing and make contact, or strike out if the ball is in the zone, or get a walk if the ball is out of the zone. Then you'll have a bunch of action, maybe.Comment

If a pitcher wants to work fast let them work fast. If they wants to work slow let them work slow. It's part of player and team identity.
Kinda like how teams and players play different styles in other leagues you know.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
As I understand it, with an electronic strike zone there would still be a home plate umpire to judge foul tips calls, catcher interference, HBP, plays at the plate etc.
Who knows, if umpires ask nicely we might even let then "voice" strikes and balls so they can go "Striiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike!".
Plus there would still be umpires at the bases.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

2019 will be the last year Miller Park is known by that name.

Along with Comiskey Park/US Cellular Field, AT&T Park, Jacobs Field, Skydome and Safeco Field.
Speaking of which, I never knew just how many stadiums are changing names this season. Despite some changes, we still have almost a third of the league without brand names on the stadium.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I have a mini outrage and then eventually call the stadium by its new corporate name but in this case, nope. It will forever always be Miller Park to me.
Are they gonna ban Bernie Brewer after it becomes American Family Park? I mean, a mascot that represents out of shape beer drinking sports fans isn't exactly "family friendly".Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
