It's pretty insane to think that if you could somehow take every single guy that's ever appeared in a Major League game, the entire group wouldn't even halfway fill most MLB stadiums.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Trivia question that appeared on MLB Central several minutes ago. I paused it while eating breakfast so I'm sure it's been answered, but I'm giving it to those who haven't seen it yet.
Edwin Encarnacion has hit 302 home runs since the start of the 2011 season. That makes him one of five active players who have hit at least 300 homers over any nine-season span in their careers. Can you name the other four?
Without looking at any stats, right now my short list contains (from most likely to least, in my opinion):
Spoiler
Albert Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
Nelson Cruz
Giancarlo Stanton
Ryan Braun
Mike Trout
Robinson Cano
Evan Longoria
I kept going back to Adrian Beltre in my mind, only to keep forgetting that he retired (and his jersey!).
EDIT: Okay, so my top four were correct. Feel free to still guess for yourselves if you avoid the tag.Last edited by Blzer; 06-21-2019, 12:45 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

MLB Off-Topic
Well I failed because I missed the “active” part totally. I was like Griffey, Bonds, and Pujols, easy money where do I collect the prize, but only Albert is still doing it. 🤦NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: MLB Off-Topic
My guesses:
Nelson Cruz (I know this one is right because they've mentioned something similar on Twins broadcast)
Albert Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
And I can't think of who a 4th could be...Comment

Trout is as good as ever: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/pitchers...-trout-laughs/
2019 is arguably Mike Trout’s finest batting season so far. His xwOBA of .473 is the highest it’s ever been and 30 points higher than his wOBA, suggesting that he’s been unlucky this year to put up “only” a 180 wRC+, the third-highest of his career. He has the highest walk rate in baseball and a strikeout rate in the lowest 21% of qualified batters. He’s getting on base at the highest rate in his career despite the lowest BABIP in his career (excluding his brief 2011).
As the superstar outfielder continues to add to his Hall of Fame résumé, his team could be on pace to set a record for mediocrity
Now, Trout has two new foils, both in the NL: Bellinger, and Christian Yelich, last year’s MVP. Yelich has slightly out-WARed Trout over the past calendar year, though he’s also played 16 more games. Over almost half a season in 2019, the two players have hit roughly as well as Trout, and their breakouts have been chronicled in article after article. They’re the new hotness, and they’ve both played at a level no one knew they could attain. Yet they haven’t been notably better than Trout, who leads Yelich in WAR this season and, by FanGraphs’ accounting, has pulled approximately even with Bellinger. Other All-Stars’ extremes are Trout’s regular routine.Last edited by Jr.; 06-21-2019, 10:45 PM.Comment

This guy is unbelievable
He has a SLIM chance to reach the halfway point by the end of the year (he'd have to finish with 60), but he'll definitely reach 300 by the end of next May.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 06-21-2019, 10:50 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: MLB Off-Topic
This is separate from the "Trout is the greatest player ever" discussion, just happened to see this on Twitter today.

Home Road Splits...
PA 129/177
HR 21/8
BB 22/19
SO 18/35
BA .438/.288
SLG 1.086 / .536 (!)
This seems...remarkable.
It's not that Yelich is bad away from Milwaukee...but this seems beyond the standard deviation...even if it's argued that Miller is turning into a hitters park, it doesn't account for be sharp increase in K rate and decrease in BB rate away from home.
While Bellinger's H/A splits show some variance, they hardly compare to this...looking up the splits for Trout, Alonso, Bryant, and they are almost even, wth nothing close to the disparity found in Yelich.
Moustakas is virtually even, though Braun has some variation similar to CY in all but a couple categories...so leveling an accusation of "gamesmanship" might he too far...but I don't think it's beyond the pale to raise an eyebrow.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment
