Reading about the renovations at the Rogers Centre reminded me about ole Jarry Park in Montreal for nostalgia purposes. MLB 's inauguration of Canada's 1st game. Expos defeated the Cardinals 8-7, April 14, 1969.

The Montreal Expos play their first-ever home game in 1969

      Jays tease their new scoreboard

Might look a bit awkward in the sense that you have those 2 other long screens, but I believe those ones will be used for things like the scoresheet, stats, pitch count, pitch speed, pitch clock and so on anyways.

Although, whenever the major renovations come to the stadium, such as detaching the hotel from the stadium, I'm sure that entire section could be turned into a screen.

But I still believe they need another jumbotron somewhere behind home plate. And I'd remove the 500 level OF seats and just convert them into more public areas.

Or, if they do change up the stadium so that all seats point towards home plate, you could add space by removing some seats since things will now be angled.

MLB's investigation should have been completed by now. They've had nearly a whole year to get this done.

Minor League Baseball Moving 2nd Base During 2022 Season

As part of the experiment, the minor leagues will also have larger bases this season, increasing from 15 inches square to 18 inches square. That change will go into effect at the start of the season and help shorten the distance between first and second base.

Once second base moves later in the year, it will sit even closer to first base and third base, by about 13.5 inches. Second base currently is 88 feet, 1.5 inches from first base.

The goal of the experiment is to create a shorter distance between the bases and encourage more base stealing and more thrilling first-to-third base-running action.

13.5 inches, that's kind of a lot. Could be fun.

Now we’re messing with the field dimensions.

If you are trying to create more action, then either deaden the balls or raise the mound.

I thought larger bases was for the 1B bag in fair ground but runner has to be in foul ground fiasco rule.

                But I suppose not.

Unrelated, but in configuring a ballfield once I found out for the first time that second base doesn't run exactly in line with first and third base. If you drew a perpendicular line from the back of first or third base, it runs into the middle of second base. I guess it's related to the fact that home plate is irregularly shaped and something or another. I don't totally know why.

Did y'all read why they're moving second?

It makes complete sense and actually fixes the field dimensions.

They moved 1st and 3rd way back because the dimension used to be setup in the middle of the base. That meant half the bag was fair and half was foul. So they changed it to line up with the back corner so the whole bag was fair.

They didn't have to do that with 2nd so they just left it.

This fixes the irregular shape of the field

I'm absolutely for more stealing. Stolen bases are a lost art. Stupidly, teams stopped playing small ball. I would kill for the Yankees to grab a bunch of speed threats.

I'm really surprised. Well not really. Because it's a copy cat league. But if I was a manager I would break the league and field a team that would steal you blind. Teams wouldn't be prepared to defend it. Because it's just not used like it once was.

Analytics proved that base stealing and small ball isn't as conducive to scoring runs as swinging for the fences is, so if we want to go back to the old ways (which I do), it will require rule changes, messing with the field, messing with the ball, etc. It's like in antitrust law, when a company becomes so successful they're a monopoly, you say "well done, you won the game," then break them up. Same deal here with baseball.
