A late night for the Bucs but they pick up a win. Finally got a game in between all the rain, although it looked like there was Atlantic Ocean in the outfield.

-Biggest Story of the night Daryle Ward . Went 4 for 5 with 6 RBI's and hit for the cycle. He is such a huge pick-up, he's been hitting everything and the Pirates are a lot better with him. I hope this game gives Simon his walking papers

-Benson didn't look too hot tonight. One thing was though that Mac left him in too long, espically after such a long rain delay. His ERA went up and is now in the 5's I think. Not helping him cause to get traded to a contender.

-Great game Bucs win again tommmorow

Never ever diss Simon..... I am shocked Simon has been hitting everything in site for years and you want him to walk WOW.

Great game by the Bucco's last night. Ward has been HUGE since the Pirates brought him up. In 10 games he has 16 RBI's. He's just been hitting everything in site. I doubt the Pirates will eat Simon's contract. My guess is that he'll stay on the team as a LH pinch hitter. I see no reason for Simon to take up a roster spot, but the Pirates would just be throwing the money they pay him away.

Anyone else notice that Ward's cycle has gotten almost no attention? If this were Nomar or Jeter or someone of that caliber it would be posted all over the internet, on TV, in newspapers etc... Yet since it's the lowly Pirates no one notices. I was surprised to not see a post in this baseball forum saying Simon hit for the Cycle. Pretty big feat IMO....

What a game. The Pirates win an amazing game in the first game of the doubleheader against the Cubs.

An amazing rally in the ninth to get the Pirates the win. Nunez was the hero and almost the goat. He drove in Tike after a triple to tie the game at 5, but then on a Jack Wilson fly to center, he didn't tag up and score the winning run. I don't know why he didn't but it looked bad for the Pirates as Craig went down swing after that.

But Rob Mackowiak comes to the rescue. With the bases load Rob blasts an absolute shot to right. A Grand Slam to win the game for the Bucs. Mackowiak earlier today became a father for the first time, and then completes the greatest day of his life by winning it for the Pirates.

Great game Pirates, Great Game. Congrats to Mackowiak now lets take the second game.

Wow, what a doubleheader. Rob Mackowiak has his first child in the morning, hits a Grand Slam in the 9th of the 1st game to give the Buc's the win and then hits a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 9th of the second game to tie the game. Craig Wilson finished off the win with a HR in the bottom of the 10th!

Amazing 2 games for the Buc's!!!!

Nice, least these guys can do is spare Ollie of a loss on a decent pitched game. Good going Bucs, keep it up.
