Re: Official 2004 Pittsburgh Pirates GameLog/Chat

Wow...I go away and the thread nearly dies? Glad to see it's been brought back.

My goal for the Pirates this week is to see them pass the Astros. Houston is only one game ahead of the Pirates in the standings, though the Pirates have 4 coming up against Atlanta, which will be difficult. The Astros are pulling a major-league choke-job and I'm loving every minute of it!

Can someone answer this for me? What is it with the Brewers? When they play the Pirates, they can't do anything, but they seem to handle everyone else okay? I don't get it....

If I have to see that Sid Bream play on replay this coming series, I'm going to vomit. They showed it once when the Pirates were in Atlanta already. If they're going to show that, they should also show the non third strike hose-call that set up the whole Cabrera at bat.

Went to the game last night. Absolutely awesome game. Came in, got the stargell figurine woo hooo.. then got to our seats and happened to be sitting right in front of red fans so that was a problem for the first few innings during the josh fogg implosion. but after mac came out and brought in vogelsong, they really played like a true winning team. vogelsong shut down the reds for the most part during his 3 or 4 innings. and the pirates bats got HOT. if anyone watched the game you know what i mean lol. everybody contributed and it was a great game to be at. there was also some great defense by bay and jose castillo. if you watch web gems on baseball tonight youll see what i mean lol.

they had a sellout crowd too because of the promotion and turn back the clock night. it was really great to see all the old guys from the 79 team that ive always heard so much about from my dad and uncles.

on a side note.. has anyone noticed jason bay is hitting homeruns on a pace that babe ruth had during his career?

        peace and go bucs!

Also went last night and sat a few rows behind some Reds fans. They went nuts during Larkin's HR, but were quite the rest of the game. Very good game to watch. The Stargell Figurine and an excellent W for the Pirates.

I was in section 120 row GG. Last row in the lowest section right behind the Pirates dugout. Nice seats, except for the tall guy sitting in front of me. I couldn't see over him and had to lean to the side to see the pitch. If I didn't I could see the pitcher windup and throw and then saw the batter swing. Everything in between was covered by a head!!!

Cool story of the night. So I went to Brewsters on 228 in Cranberry (Seven Fields to be exact) to get some ice cream with my girlfriend tonight. I see a Hummer pull up. I didn't pay much attention since a lot of people drive those things around here.

Anyhow, I give my order and notice a kid running around behind me with some guy, a lady and 2 older people. I turn around to see the older guy has an All Star shirt that you'd get at the game. I then see Jack Wilson chasing either his son or nephew. So I guess Jack, his wife or sister, nephew or son and parent's.

I didn't say anything since Jack was busy playing around with the young child, but thought it was cool nonetheless. I was there for 10 minutes or so and noticed that no one noticed who he was. I guess people around here really don't pay much attention to these guys!
