If the Padres could sign Beltran to a multi-year contract, they would send Burroughs, Nady and possibly Klesko to KC for Beltran and Randa in a heart beat. Might have to toss in a pitching prospect, but they are pretty deep with young pitchers also.

None of Boras's clients have signed a multi-year contract with a team that they were traded to before in their final year of their contract. I'm not counting on it because the Padres will surely lose Beltran in free agency if the slim chances of resigning Beltran doesn't happen all because of Boras. Burroughs (can only get better), Nady (has yet to prove himself), Klesko (does he still have it), plus pitching prospects is a little too much for Beltran and Randa... one star player and a mediocre player.

Maybe, since they don't really have any prospects.

I doubt it, most of the teams who will be trading good pitchers aren't looking for old high priced veterans in return.

San Diego isn't going to deal Klesko. First off, he's a 10-5 players so he can veto any deal and secondly, they need his bat in the lineup.

No, the Yanks aren't going to trade Sheffield or any of their big bats. If anything they will buy some expensive players in exchange for low level prospects (ie. what they did when they got Mondesi). They could pay all of Kris Benson's or Garcia's deal in exchange for low level prospects. Thats the most likely type of deal the Yanks will pull.
