No, he spent all of 2014 killing puppies and spitting on veterans.

The fact that there are zero expectations for him any more has probably helped. His career is almost over, he's not breaking the HR record, his personal reputation is in ruins, there's no large contract to be had, he's not making the HOF, etc. Being the most disliked person in the game is pretty liberating from a performance perspective.

I don't understand why Pujols has a 250 average. It still baffles me.

Fewer walks, lots of flyballs, and he's turned into an extreme pull hitter lately, which makes him easy to shift against.

Why the change from his STL days? The foot?

Per FanGraphs, it looks like his flyball/pull % is right around his career average. Rather, the balls that prime Pujols would slam into LF/LCF are turning into infield outs since the bat speed isn't what it used to be and he's getting shifted against. And he doesn't walk nearly as much as he used to, which brings the batting average down since he's accumulating more ABs.

Big-time declines in batting average are a common denominator among aging sluggers who pull the ball. It's another feather in the cap of the saber-guys who think pull hitters age worse than other types of hitters. The Pujols skillset only really works now if he's hitting the ball out of the park.

What a weird game. Seattle winning 1-0, then Jays 3-1,then Seattle 6-3,then eventually Jays 8-6.

Main reason, cause Seattle walked alot of batters. And I mean alot. Not 1,not 2,not 3,not 4......9 BATTERS!

And it felt like game was in Toronto lol. Just watch/listen to this reaction:

                Thank you, Rangers.

Side note, Angels marketing may want to find something besides "Welcome to the Big A" to put on top of the 3rd base dugout.

Looks to me like Pujols suffers from a double wammie to his AVG. Age/bat speed and he established those high AVG before the deployment of shifts were even a thing against right handed bats.

                    Greinke's scoreless streak is over.

I'm sure Greinke is probably relieved more than anything.

Now lets hope the Dodgers give him some run support.

HBP, single and the runner advanced to third since Joc Pederson misplayed the ball, and DeGrom hit into a fielder's choice.

That's all it takes to score a run in baseball.

Phillies are hot right now. Nice to see. Gotta have something to enjoy since the postseason isn't happening. Great start for them post All-Star break. Hopefully it leads to at least a .500 second half. 7-1 so far since the break.
