Giants making strong push for Cueto... Deal will easily top the $120 mil Arizona offered him.

Cueto gets an opt-out after two years. That's surprising.

If the Cubs trade Soler to bring back Fowler, I will die.

I don't get it. Cespedes is a FA after only 4 MLB seasons. That doesn't make sense if he had to abide by service time rules.

It was a requirement in his contract that he be nontendered after his contarct expired, so yes, he abided by service time and arb rules, but the contract got around that. He would have been arb eligible after his contract. That's why Oakland included a supplementary draft pick with him; cause after being nontendered this offseason, he was ineligible for a QO. Notice how he didn't receive a qualifying offer?

Anyway, just figured something similar could happen to Soler or something. Won't pretend to know the specifics of that situation.

On the whole not receiving a QO, he was traded mid season. So he couldn't get one anyways.

True, but he wouldn't have been able to get one regardless.

So with Cueto to the Giants I can see both sides of the deal. On one hand he is a great pickup because he is only 29 and it now gives the Giants a rotation of Bumgarner, Cueto, Samardzija,Heston,Peavy and if healthy Cain. Only thing that I could see that hurts the Giants is if the Giants have the same injury issues next season and no way of getting a bat into the lineup.

Happy for Cueto. He'll be a good #2 there. I'm wondering where Leake ends up now.
