I think that was the case without Fowler too, but I don't really see how losing Fowler is THIS big a deal. It's just kind of funny."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Fowler's no peach defensively in CF, but I doubt they are forgoing the comp pick they would've got only to grab a 4th OF...I wonder if this signing means something's brewing for Soler or Schwarber. I do think Heyward in RF maximizes his value and didn't really like the whole Heyward in CF idea and flanked by bad defensive outfielders.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I could see the O's cleaning house at least at the managerial level if they have a horrible season. That's pretty effed up if what Adam Jones said is true.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Close is full of crap. I know for a fact that Fowler and the Orioles had an agreement on a 3 year deal with no opt out. After the media leaked the deal, Close went back to the Orioles demanding an opt out clause. The Orioles do not do opt out clauses and had made that clear to Close multiple times.
As a lifelong Orioles fan I'll be the first to admit that this organization does completely idiotic things at times, but this situation is all on Fowler and his agent (Close). The Orioles were 100% expecting Fowler to be at their spring training facility today.Ravens - Orioles - Terps

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I don't think we really had a chance even with Fowler. Yeah he would have been a nice addition, but he wasn't magically going to make this team a serious contender IMO.
