I heard earlier today that the Phillies were 6 games over .500 for the first time since 2011...it doesn't feel that long ago that they were the kings of the NL East, and it doesn't look like it will be long until they are right back in the thick of things.

I am still not expecting playoffs this year, but after losing 99 games last year I sure as hell wasn't expecting this kind of turn around already.Comment

BaseRuns, which strips out situational effects, thinks the Phillies have played like a .400 team so far. So while the Phillies have been a nice story, their record is mostly a mirage. The offense is terrible (69 wRC+) and they still need like 5 more quality hitters on that team.
The starting pitching is awesome though and gives them a higher floor than people thought. The roots are there for a turnaround.I write things on the Internet.

That throw from Goeddel was insane...a flyball like that is usually a routine sac fly. Just an unreal throw and just as good a play by Rupp to hold onto it."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Hanley bunting with two outs in the bottom of the 9th with Ortiz on 3rd in a tie game was the highlight of yesterday's game for me.Comment
