    Re: 9/19 - 10/2 Game Discussion Thread

There's a lot working for and against him. For being Boston and his postseason success. Against being DH and that kills him. He doesn't even have anywhere near the WAR that Edgar does and the writers don't give him a shot. He's gonna end up with less WAR and a lower WRC+ than Jim Thome, who I don't think has a shot in hell at being a first ballot hall of famer. That's why I say it'll be interesting. On the BBREF WAR leader boards he's a little above Johnny Damon and a little below Jim Edmonds and Kenny Lofton. If I had to bet money Id say no way he gets in first ballot but it's really hard to predict anything with these writers.

Both teams loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 1st, Heatley struck out and we got nothing, Tulo lined a single to left center for 2 runs. Gonna be a long one.

Welp, I don't want to jinx anything, but I can't remember the last time the Red Sox lost.

Terry Collins is a pain in the *** with all these pitching changes.

Braves once again pull it out and win on a tremendous catch with 2-outs in the 9th. I am LOVING watching this team finish out the year...kudos to Brian Snitker for not letting the guys mail it in. IMO, the guy has earned the right to manage this team next year. With tonight's win the Braves' have avoided a 100 loss season...

Anyways, nice win by the Jays. Donaldson had some funky shoes on tonight too.

If the Tigers make the playoffs i'd be scared to face em. They're on a tear.

On a tear, and Verlander probably being the one we'd have to face.

Though if Jays offense can get it going again, it won't matter who they face, they could beat anyone.

9 games left, magic number to clinch playoffs is 8.

                        What a turnaround for Liriano.

Papi's homer tonight literally dropped my jaw and made me say "Jesus" out loud.

Statcast may have shorted it by 40 or 50 feet, as it hit the catwalk. If the catwalk wasn't there, it would've hit very high on the back wall.

I'll take the win, but still weird seeing Melancon pitching against the Pirates.

Buck and Pat were speculating that Liriano should be the one to start the Wild Card game. I would be comfortable with him, Happ or Sanchez. The Jays thankfully have three very good choices in that department.

BTW Big Papi broke "Shoeless" Joe Jackson's RBI record for most RBI in a player's final season.
