Teix makes sure we're the only ones celebrating on our field, and pushes forward the winning season streak. He's having too much fun heading into retirement, I love it.

Playoffs hopes on the line and we cannot even beat the Reds. We just stink at home this year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

So, are Cubs fans at all worried about Arrieta? Since starting 9-0 with a low 2's ERA, he's 9-8 with a 4.05 ERA. I've noticed his walk rate has nearly doubled this year from last year and in the starts I've seen him he has struggled with location. You have to wonder if he's not the #3 option in that rotation behind Lester/Hendricks at this point...

Some dude tried to come at David Price on twitter, saying he's getting paid 212 mil he should be playing like it and Price said "217 mil, don't short change me"

I love it. To me it's not so much arrogance as reality. Just like "dude who the **** are you to tell me how to do my job, do your own". This season wont matter anyway if he shows up in the playoffs and throws a couple shutouts. I cant imagine the restraint these guys show from the people harassing them all the time. I wouldn't even have twitter in that position, it'd be too easy to tell people how you feel.

not really the walks are the concern but yesterday was really an anomaly. he rarely gets hit that hard. He's always was gonna be #3 in the playoffs even after the dominant STL start.

That's just it though....it isn't just yesterday. He hasn't been great in 3 months...he's not getting hit, so it's odd that he's putting up an ERA over 4 in that time span (and he isn't getting BABIP'd...his BABIP in that time is .240ish). Just weird and he certainly hasn't felt dominant or like a sure thing.

I don't know if worried is the right word. My expectations are just lowered. I never expected him to repeat last season. I did think he'd be more consistent, but he has inexplicably lost his slider. He still has the ability to go out and dominate like he did against the Cardinals in his previous start, so I think it's just sit back and hope he has command in Game 3.

Yeah but it's not like he's been getting shelled like yesterday though. I'd be more concerned if people were hitting him like they did yesterday. It's also weird how people talk about his performance I mean 18-8 with 3 ERA and it feels different.

there's more of an uncertainty i guess but if he's your #3 I think you are probably more than fine with that.

Again, agree that the overall looks good...it's the last 3 months though that have been oddly unreflective of his rate stats (9-8, 4.00+ ERA). When he's good, he's still good...but he now has the propensity to lay a clunker.

I'm terrified whenever Jake Arrieta pitches. He is unbelievably inconsistent, which is ironic considering his machine-like, maniacal preparation and training regimen. He is simply not the same pitcher he was last year and early this year. He can either give you 8 IP of shutout ball or he might walk 6 and give up 7 runs. That inconsistency scares the hell out of me when applied to a short series.

I still think he's the #2 starter because of what he can do when he's on. You just have to hope for the best and get the bullpen ready at the first signs of trouble. One vintage Jake Arrieta start might be the difference between winning the deciding game and not.

I don't agree that Arrieta "always was gonna be #3". You just don't demote the reigning Cy Young and our #1 starter in the 2015 playoffs like that. Managers value playoff experience and stuff a lot more than you might think. At this point, I am not going to argue with Maddon if he goes Lester-Hendricks-Arrieta-Lackey. But, if I were doing it, it would be Lester-Arrieta-Hendricks-Lackey.

Because of how good Hendricks has been at home, I think I'd rather him throw game 2. I don't think playoff experience has any effect because Hendricks was on the team last year, too, as it was the first time in the playoffs for either of them. It's not like Arrieta had a ton of success in the playoffs last year, either, aside from the WC game.

I didn't watch the game last night, but maybe Arrieta was working on something to get ready for the playoffs? Maddon keeps saying he's taking a Spring Training mindset with lineups/rotations this week. Maybe Arrieta was doing that, too.

If Tigers-Indians game gets cancelled, don't know if that's good or bad news. Sure, it means they don't get another chance at a win, but also means they could tie in wins but then have higher win%

That's not how it works. Nobody ever makes or misses the playoffs due to a cancelled game.

If, after 161 games, the Tigers are in or out of a playoff spot by exactly half a game, their rained out game with the Indians will be played on Monday. If the Tigers are in/out of a playoff spot by 1.5 or more games, or if there's just seeding on the line, the game won't be played.

Just read that stuff on MLB.com, I really think a game could end up being played. If the game matters to even 1 of those 2 teams, it'll have to be made up. And seeing how close Cleveland is to Boston/Texas, and how close Detroit is to Toronto/Baltimore, there's a good chance that 1 missed game could impact alot for at least 1 of those 2 teams.

Will be interesting to see how all this works should ties happen.

If Tigers-Indians need to make up their game, and then Tigers tie with O's and Jays for the 2WC spots, isn't that like 4 game extra they need to play starting on Monday?
