Other than Colon, most of the pitchers from the Mets opening day rotation are hurt.

I completely read your post backwards the first time. Now that I'm awake, we're on the same page.

Absolutely! You'd have to be a moron to push Sanchez on 3 day's rest. Why baby a guy and let him go 5 innings or so, and then risk it on your bullpen in hopes they don't blow it, where if you win great. But if you lose, now you have to hope he comes back and looks just as good on short rest.

I'd rather have a guy get into the 7th and have a good game and hopefully the bullpen locks it down and you get the win and then you know you have fresh, reliable starters still ready to go if you do get to that 4th/5th game situation. In the ALCS? Ok, now I can see starting to push it if you really need it. But it's dumb to do in a 5 game series when you have 4 fairly reliable starters (not named David Price).

        David Price ERA: 4.04
        CC Sabathia ERA: 4.02

          I can't agree more!

The Jays are going to do what used to be the case before the Royals changed things and made it more of a bullpen game then anything else. The Jays really only have 3 dependable relievers you can put out there and not have to worry too much. (Biagini, Grilli, Osuna) The depth and length that the Jays rotation offers up is a huge advantage over every other team in the playoffs right now with maybe the exception of the Cubs.

In short, it's starting pitching or bust for this team right now.

Dickey will be in the bullpen in the playoffs is my prediction.

The thing about Dickey in bullpen though is that it means Thole might have to be on the roster to catch him.

And inconsistency as well. Never know which Dickey you could get at any given game.

Batters hitting .311 vs Dickey the first time through the lineup, but .208 the second time around. As a bullpen guy, he'd likely just face guys once. The one thing in his favor at least would be that he's sandwiched between other pitchers, so hitters face a regular pitcher for 6-7 innings, then Dickey, then another regular pitcher after, so it messes with timing.

One thing I heard suggested on mlbn, would the Red Sox or Rangers actually prefer to lose the 1st spot in the AL? Finish 2nd and face injured Cleveland, and then have 50-50 chance at home advantage in ALCS. Sounds better than finishing 1st, facing Jays,Os or Tigers in ALDS and if they win, guaranteed 1st in ALCS

I dunno about Detroit and Toronto, but nobody is tanking games running away from Baltimore right now, they're gonna be food if they make it in.

Baltimore likely won't win WC game to begin with. Yesterday was WC game preview in a way with Jays having Sanchez pitch vs Os and do great.

Os-Tigers in 2nd WC game tiebreaker on Monday and O's winning that, it'd be best scenario for Jays headed into the Tuesday game, not that they'd need extra help to beat Os, but might as well take any help they can get

Right now I'm pulling for us to do well this weekend for future prep, but also to ensure Texas stays as #1. I think they're suspect in a short series. Unless Boston cools down real quick, 5 games a them just may not be enough.

But Boston still hasn't clinched so there's always that opportunity.

After being down 6-0 last night the Braves have outscored the Phillies 19-2. Braves are now 25-13 over the last 6 weeks....finishing strong.
