Re: 9/19 - 10/2 Game Discussion Thread
Jays need to win tonight for sure to take off the pressure heading into Boston. 2 game lead on the O's with 3 games left basically means O's have to sweep Yankees and Jays win nothing vs Red Sox for the O's to get shot at 1st in the WC.
And if Tigers game is cancelled today(and Jays win tonight vs O's,then get swept by Red Sox while O's sweep Yankees) Tigers will need to sweep the Braves and then play 1 vs Indians to settle the WC tiebreaker before them possibly having to play a WC tiebreaker and then the WC game itself. I'm confused just typing up that last part lol.Comment

That's the most celebration hangover lineup I have ever seen.

Guess you don't remember the Blue Jays' 2-day hangover from last year.

Re: 9/19 - 10/2 Game Discussion Thread
But back to serious talk....What do you expect the lineup to be for the series vs the Jays? Will Red Sox play their regulars for 1,2 or all games of the series? And do they actually want to win the AL, or are they actually looking to finish 2nd to face the Indians instead of the Jays,O's or Tigers(who Red Sox have gone a combined .500 against this year, and are BELOW .500 against all 3 teams at Fenway this year. Something which isn't as good of a sign given that they obviously would have home advantage in ALDS)Comment

Re: 9/19 - 10/2 Game Discussion Thread
Surprised that many regulars are still in the lineup. I remember when Jays clinched AL East last year, it was game 1 of a double header,so game 2 they played everyone from Cliff Pennington to Matt Hague to Josh Thole to Jonathan Diaz lol. And that wasn't even the hangover game.

But obviously that won't matter to them at all. It's about resting guys up for the playoffs, and possibly playing for the scenario which is more favorable for them in the ALDS and beyond.Comment

They gave Ortiz a book, presented by Ellsbury and David Cone. Then Mo gave him an oil painting of him at the plate tipping his cap to the Yankee Stadium crowd.

It has been an absolute pleasure to watch & listen to this Atlanta squad in the 2nd half. I have hope for 2017 with what we've seen since July!"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment
