Win against Baltimore and the job is done, regardless of what Detroit does.
Cause this time of the year, it's fun to scoreboard watch. It's first time ever the Jays are in a wildcard race, so I'm just enjoying it. Ya sure, if Jays just win, they don't need to care what others do, but it's still fun regardless to scoreboard watch and be rooting against teams. And it can provide a little safety net/silver lining on days where they don't win.

Before the Yanks series Gregg Zaun said the Jays need to win at least 7 games to assure themselves a playoff spot. I think that's a good measuring stick. So far they're 2 down and 5 to go. Still, I think the players are not thinking in those terms and will try to win every ballgame.

Exactly. Not to take away from the news on Jose or anything, but if you're the one in the lead, don't look in the rear-view mirror unless you have to. Winning 5 out of 9 should be doable if they are going to be a competitive playoff team.

I get scoreboard watching and being in a wildcard race, but you have to remember that a month ago, Toronto shouldn't have even been considering a wildcard playoff race. They'd be within a game of 1st if they had just won a few games this month that make sense given how much of the season has played out; take 2 of 3 at Tampa, win 1 in NY, take 2 from Boston at home, take 2 from Tampa at home. That's a net of 5 games in the standings by getting an extra win against Boston. They wind up as a wildcard by losing the division race. Now, maybe that's not the best way to enter the playoffs and this situation is better. I don't want to have to be concerned that so-and-so needs to lose to save our ***. We win, it means things are turning around, and we claim the spot versus having it handed to us.

On another matter, if the Tigers don't make the playoffs I think that blown save yesterday is going to loom large as a factor in that.

That TBS strikezone thingy is poorly calibrated, anything on the right side corner it shows as way outside the plate.

Lmao, embarrassing is a great way to put it TBS.

Allowing a bunt double, not getting an out on a picked off runner. This is a fun game.

It does not feel like Toronto has won 7 of 10. For as poor as the month started, maybe we aren't too bad off just yet. Those two games last weekend in Anaheim still leave some doubt about this team going ice cold in the wrong game.

So....Is Joe Girardi trying to get himself fired? I mean you intentionally walk Donaldson for Encarnacion? OOOOKAY.....

I'm sure lots of other people would disagree with this but I kind hope he succeeds. Bad decisions left and right from him.

I think the outcome probably would have been the same. They were going to face Encarnacion one way or another. I also think they underestimated Encarnacion's ability not to want to pound the ball across the lake for a grand slam and instead just poke it in a hole for the win.

You're probably right but watching this series Girardi has made terrible decisions at every turn. If I'm a Yankees fan i'm pulling my hair out from all these crazy/questionable/bad moves.
