Can the Braves just tank the rest of the year?

I'd give anyone a shot...Johnson has had 3 clean innings since June 1 (16 appearances). He isn't cutting it and is killing any chance this team has of being in contention. I know we are "rebuilding", but this team can contend in the NL this year and the closer position is single handedly killing us.

Don't kid yourself. This team has too terrible of pitching all around to be a contender for anything. We have nothing close to an ace, a mediocre pen at best, and obviously no closer. The only redeeming quality this team has is that it can rack up base hits at times.

I really hate the no pitch intentional walk.

              Girardi wtf are you doing?

Could you not see Clippard had nothing? Then you intentionally walk the bases full?

This team has played MUCH better the last 6 weeks...the pitching hasn't lived up to it's potential and can only get better, IMO. All we have to do is hang around the wild card and make a run/get hot at the right time. You keep talking about tanking...heck no. We have PLENTY of talent in the system...a top pick next year does nothing for me. I want meaningful baseball into August/September.

yeah I didn't understand that decision. If there was 1 out or zero outs, I could see walking the bases full because then you set a force play at home or possible double play. But with two outs, why not take a chance of getting an out. If you walk the hitter, then you're no worse than you are intentionally walking the bases full.

Man, that was a demoralizing loss tonight. Sanchez was probably a bit over amped and the umpire kinda squeezed him a bit on some calls. Can't make any excuses though, this is the kind of result I expect in this series. The 'Stros are literally a good starting pitcher away from being a lock to make the WS.

We just see the team at two different points. I'm not buying into the hype of the past month. We've played a cupcake schedule lately. The first 4 or 5 series after the break will bring this team back down to Earth when we consistently play some good teams and not the Giants, Padres, and Oakland.

They did it to get the righty/righty matchup but with Clippard out there loading them up leaves him no room for error.

What a waste. This team could contend if not for Colon, Johnson and so many of Dickey's starts.

Figures that tonight Dickey actually pitches excellent and Freddie puts us in the lead and it's all flushed down the toilet.

The Braves are in the bottom 1/3 of the league in runs scored. Let's not act like they are a couple of arms away from competing for anything significant. Bottom 5 in hits per run, bottom 3 in isolated power. This team can crank out 10 hits a game, but it'll only amount to 3 runs. You guys are letting one 8-2 stretch cloud your judgement.

Byron Buxton scored from first on a single tonight. Was not running on the pitch.
