Cubs staff working on a 1-hitter at the Trop. Brad Miller with a solo jack off Montgomery in the 6th. Cubs up 2-1 late.

It would also be nice if the Pirates would stop playing like a dead fish and at least try to compete in these final few games. Pretty pathetic how they've been playing.

I don't mind the juiced balls. As long as players themselves aren't cheating, it's fine if they want to make game more exciting. As much as we can look back on steroid era in a negative light, it was one of biggest times for mlb. Look at how much attention Judge and Stanton are getting. If there's one thing mlb lacks compared to NBA and NFL it's the marketing of stars. Having stars emphasized because of juiced balls and inflated stats isn't a bad thing.

Speaking of juiced balls, if someone was suspicious of this, couldn't they just get a ball from a game and send it to a lab or something and compare it with a past years ball?

The Red Sox have won their 15th extra inning game, tying the team record from 1943. 8 of this year's wins were on the road.

I know Roberts wants to rebuild confidence in Pedro Baez, but he needs to stop putting him in high-leverage situations right now, or this is going to be a quick postseason exit.

Have no problems with the inflated HR totals . This game will always go through peaks and valleys.

            I enjoy it regardless.

I dislike the Red Sox but that's one helluva achievement especially when the bulk of those wins are on the road.

Kudos to them on that achievement.

Cards win, the Rockies lose. We are sitting at 3 1/2 games back with 12 left to play.

45 and 100 for Judge. 5 homers away from the rookie record.

Gary ties the game with one of his own.

An ops over 1.000 in September to go along with 8 home runs. He's back.

Didi Gregorious just hit the most home runs in a season in Yankees history. Now with 25.

A tremendous feat considering he missed a month of playing time.

Meant to add most home runs as a SS in a single season in Yankees history.

Giancarlo is inching towards that pretty number of 60.

A crazier thing is the winning percentage.

                          The 1943 team won 15 out of 31. (48%)
                          The 2017 team has won 15 of 18. (82%)

(The 1943 team also has the MLB record for most extra inning games played in a season.)

Jeez, when the Royals get in a groove hitting early (read: 1st pitch) in the count they make you PAY. What a beatdown going on in the 6ix. They even made one of the neat stories among the September call ups look like chopped liver.

Lester with one of those starts today. Giving up 7 runs in less than 5 IP. He's had a handful of these stink bombs this season. Cubs down 7-1 to TB late.

Pirates and Reds continue to do what they were apparently put in the NL Central for--which is losing every time to Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Looks like the NL Central will be 1 game tighter after tonight.
