Thanks Rizzo for striking out on not a single pitch in the zone.

    And the dp!

That Rizzo AB was brutal. He gets 5 pitches, all out of the zone, and swings at 4 of them. And this is a guy who takes a ton of walks. Hero ball apparently...

Yea especially frustrating when Barnes was all over the place and walked two guys.

        What an intense game!

Oh God, Justin Wilson. Welp, let's get back at 'em tomorrow. This is about to get out of hand.

Maddon took out Heyward up 2-1 in the 7th for Happ?

            Then puts in Justin Wilson?

I know my expectations for Justin Wilson have been destroyed when I'm happy he's only getting hit hard instead of walking everyone. Hard to believe this joker was a sought after RP at the trade deadline. 100% puke since becoming a Cub.

What a dud of a pickup...every time I watch him he's getting lit up.

So let's dissect this soon-to-be Brewers win over the Cubs...

Arrieta has a great start, gives up a solo HR but the Brewers weren't really damaging him. He gets lifted after 5 IP because a pitch count of 71 and his 1st start back. Whatever. Not to mention letting Arrieta bat for himself in the 5th, but he did hit the ball hard.

Edwards has a nice inning, but Duensing walks a couple and Maddon decides to double switch Happ and Strop into the game for Duensing and Heyward. Strop walks his 1st guy and gives up a tying hit to Sogard. If Sogard's ball goes to Jason Heyward, maybe there is a play at the plate. Strop walks Walker, but gets Braun to keep it tied.

Cubs come back up and Barnes walks the first 2 guys. Tries like hell to walk Rizzo to load the bases with nobody out, but Rizzo isn't taking any stinkin' walks and strikes out without seeing a single pitch in the zone. Contreras grounds into the 6-4-3 because the baseball gods are very angry.

So, naturally Maddon brings in Justin Wilson. Easily the worst pitcher in the sport. Wilson gives up 3 straight hits and falls asleep as Santana steals 3rd with 1 out as the go ahead run. Whoops. Of course he scores. Maddon ends up double switching Avila and Grimm in for Contreras and Wilson. Nice work, Joe.

Baez swinging for the downs...because obviously. Not like a single ties it...

EDIT: And I will gladly eat these words. lol. Baez did take the right approach with 2 strikes. Nice job, Javy.

...and you asked, he delivered. Down to their last strike...
