Re: 7/2 - 7/15 Game Discussion Thread
Teheran isn't as bad as many of you Braves fans make him out to be. There is certainly a talent base you can work from with him. I feel like he's a guy that needs a change of scenery with a different support staff in his ear. That being said, the guy is clearly inconsistent even within a start.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Baez making things happen on the bases again, gets picked off but the throw from 1B goes into the outfield, then another errant throw almost allows him to go home.
And he just stole home again. That slide is absolutely incredible.

If that is how you want to take it.
Yankees with another signature 317 foot homer. Can't wait to leave this park. Of course, if the Braves had dimensions like this I imagine half of the lineup would have additional 10-15 homers/year.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

You'd love Fenway. I believe it's 305 down the RF line around the Pesky Pole.

You are being ridiculous man. You just sound salty. It's been a good series. And if we are being realistic. Acuna's game winning homerun in game 1 was a cheapie. As was one of Markakis's. But I'm not bitching about that. I'm pretty sure Atlanta is what like 10 ft longer down the right field line.

Not being ridiculous. I even said Acuna's homer was cheap as well. I hate Fenway and I even mentioned that in an earlier thread. I thought it was you that agreed with me that it was an overrated park.
There isn't anything ridiculous about hating parks that have these dimensions. Yankees Stadium and Fenway Park are my 1a and 1b for most hated parks in the league. Great American is up there behind them. I don't even like left field at SunTrust Park because of how hitter friendly it is.
I am not a fan of striking out 12 times a game and scoring 6 runs on 8 hits because you hit some 316 foot popups. I've mocked homers from both teams all series, so I don't see how it is salty. I'd be saying the same stuff even if the Braves swept the Yankees.
To me a homer should come from a player that squared the ball up and drove it hard and deep. Rewarding a player with a homer because they popped it up 320 feet like Acuna did to win the game is a brand of baseball I absolutely hate. It's just as bad as the trend of trading strikeouts for power that we are in.
Maybe I am old school, but I prefer baseball when a .230 hitter is shamed and not celebrated because they can knock the ball out of the park every now and then. I like seeing multiple hits per inning with good baserunning to score runs. I am not and never will be a fan of the type of baseball parks like this encourage.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Oh if that's the logic. I played on a field without fences, so every field's dimensions are a joke to me

Some weird happenings in the Reds-White Sox game last night, I guess Jim Riggleman got ejected after the umpire didn't grant him an intentional walk....

They just make it look too easy sometimes. You could say this about so many ballparks though. Wrigley when the wind is blowing out. Coors field. Fenway. GABP. It's just part of the game.
Plus you got balls flying out now that it's summer. I used to get extremely irritated playing in KC. Just seemed like balls die out there. Every park has it's quirks.

Now that's teamwork. Addy goes back and makes a sparkling back-to-the-infield grab in short left-center field. Albert Almora replaces Addy's divot.
EDIT: And Willy follows it up with a go-ahead solo shot. Nice to see his power numbers creeping up.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 07-04-2018, 03:17 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I get that. I prefer longer dimensions as well. But it doesn't bother me that much. I think it's still pretty amazing to watch a guy pop one in to the opposite field seats.

I'm not a fan of GABP or Wrigley when the wind is blowing out. Coor's seems to be overrated as a true hitters park. I don't even think it is top 10, maybe not even top 15 in homers hit in it over the last few years. It just provides some nice moonshots because of that thin air.
Smaller dimensions obviously bother me more than most. It doesn't have anything to do with salt, I can promise that. If the Braves were taking advantage of it and winning I would still hate it just as much. Acuna's homer was a joke in the first game, but I'll take the win. Doesn't change that I absolutely despise anything being hitter friendly.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
