    Re: Magglio to the Tigers?

The Cubs dropped out of the running because Magglio won't:

    1) Work out for anyone

    or

    2) Let a team doctor look at him (only his own doctor).

The Cubs think he's hiding something.

The Cubs are probably right, he probably is hiding something.

Because of his knee no N.L. team in their right mind should give him more than a 1 year contract full of incentives.

        Good move by the Cubs.

It would be really nice to see the Tigers do something this offseason.... they started off nicely with Percivil, but he alone isn't the answer to the Tiger's problems....

Well if Magglio can come out and play healthy and have a decent season the Tigers lineup is looking pretty decent for 2005..if there pitching could keep gettin better and with Percival closing now they could be in decent shape to improve a bit this year

                    Re: Magglio to the Tigers?

I heard one the ESPN message boards (so it is most likely false) that the Magglio has agreed in principle to a 2 year deal with an option for a third year if he gets enough at bats in the first 2 years......

exactly...if the knee holds up it's a great pickup...I just don't want to be stuck paying this guy 20 million guaranteed (10 a year) and have him totally screw up his knee during the first quarter of the year

According to all sources around here Ordonez instructed his agent Scott Boras on Thursday to counter a Tigers' offer with a prosposal of his own -- and that's where matters stand. "That's all I can tell you," Boras said. "Magglio has instructed me to send an offer that would make him a Tiger." Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski would not comment.

Looks like it might be in the 15 mil per year ballpark.
