It's just stupid, and my team won.

What sucks is it's getting backing from everybody. Even Buck Showalter confessed as much on MLB Tonight.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they're kind of influenced to say that to support the Man... fred.

Trojan horse garbage. Ain't never getting rid of it.

I mean if they make it permanent, that legitimately might be the last straw. Too many fundamental changes.

The fact that people who have been in the game are cheering it on is just.....I don't know what.

I must be in the extreme minority because I actually don't mind it. I think its interesting to see how managers play it in that situation, whether they bunt the runner, hit and run, or have the hitter swing away.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I do think that it brings its own brand of strategy to the game, but for me it takes away far more than it provides.

One thing that just occurred to me, I wonder if there are any health risks for the pitchers here. There is a difference in pitching with nobody on and with a runner on second. I always hear about that difference in "stress pitches" and how that wears out a pitcher faster. I guess that the risk is too minimal to consider, but just some food for thought when talking about every pitcher in extra innings instantly going into that high stress mode.

I don't know where others sit, but I think a lot of OS seems okay with it. I feel like I'm in the minority here. I do hear a lot of people don't want Manfred as commissioner anymore, though.

And I've said it before, but as a softball coach of seventeen years, the "strategy" of it all has worn thin on me. It's not an interesting facet anymore. There is a reason that it exists in softball that I've mentioned before (I'll find the post), much like things like a designated player. Major League Baseball does not need this, in my opinion.

EDIT: Here they are (why softball has an international tiebreaker rule and why softball has a DP).

Yea I've heard multiple announcers say they love the new rules. And I'm just thinking Really? No you don't. You're just playing nice. It makes literally no sense.

I wish the "baseball is too time consuming crowd "would just stop watching. But what honestly bothers me the most is the 7 inning games. That just reminds me of little league games and needs to be scrapped immediately.

Manfred is an abomination and so is anybody else allowing these rules to take place.

I'm really, really hoping that the seven-inning games are really just for this modified year, since they're doing something like 60 games in not very many more days.

Yea these new gimmicks can burn. Like I said if you don't want to watch a full 9 innings or extra innings. Then go find a new sport. With that said I've really enjoyed this season. I wish it was longer. We're seeing some monster starts and I wish players had more time. But this stuff better not become a new norm. It's such a gimmick.

They actually might, they spend long days in the park and it wouldn’t surprise me if they are all in favor of anything that might get them out sooner.

Did y'all do 7 inning DH's in college?

We had to one weekend because of an impending storm and I hated it. Didn't feel like a real game.

I don't mind the extra inning rule. I prefer it over 15 inning games with no scoring because everyone is trying to hit HRs.

And that's very true. I would be interested to see a player vote on it. Do they like the new rules YES or NO. I might be shocked with the results.

I know Truist Park is at higher elevation than 28 other ballparks, but... Jesus juiced ball!

Yea, our DH's were always 7 innings. Our conference games were always played on Friday/Saturday. Friday was nine innings at the home of one of the two teams and then Saturday was the 7 inning DH at the home of the other team.

Every now and again we would also have non conference 7 inning DH's on Sunday's as well.

Part of the reason though was because of our condensed season in NE PA. We would be lucky to start in April and those games were miserable so we tried to fit about 50 games in between April/May and a small part of early June.

We would go to Florida for Spring Training every year so we would usually get about 8 or 9 full 9 inning games over the course of a week.

Colleges have started playing a lot of double headers on Saturday or 7 inning Sunday games. Some of it is teams wanting to get home sooner, costs less, and other is weather delays. It's not rare to see Sunday games starting at 10-11 AM now and still be shortened .
