Can't believe NY took Tanaka out. I know how good their bullpen is, but he was only at 66 pitches and had the Braves offense off balance through all 5 innings he pitched.

Yankees lose both games of doubleheader, Jays gonna win tonight.

      Yankees now 16-11
      Jays at 15-14

Jays 2 games back of the Yankees!? Nice to see, but I'm looking more at who's behind Jays vs who they might catch. Os losing again today, so Jays get 1.5 game lead on WC spot.

This is why I wanted expanded playoffs. Shortened season is a bonus. Every game means so much, and it's so much more fun to see.

I'd love if MLB had expanded playoffs going forward. Imagine the attendance right now in late August for teams 5 games above or below .500. Definitely getting a few thousand more fans in several ballparks as things stand right now.

Scarcity improves the value of most things, and sports are not the exception. It might bring a few extra fans in August and September for some teams to have expanded playoffs, but it would completely diminish the regular season for all teams because good teams are guaranteed a spot and even a lot of mediocre teams will make it in. Multiply the winning percentages for the 16 playoff teams (as of today) by 162 and you would have a 78 win team, an 81 win team, and an 85 win team. Even without the condensed season skewing things, look back at 2019 and we would have had a 78 win team and an 84 win team in the AL and 3 teams below 87 wins in the NL. In 2018 we would have had 1 team below .500 in the AL and 3 teams in the NL with 82 wins to figure out the final 2 spots. If we had 16 team playoffs in 2017 then we would have seen 4 teams playing in October with sub .500 records. Go through the last 20 years of MLB standings, and you will only find 3 seasons where there was not at least one (usually multiple) of those potential 16 teams below .500 , and in those cases you're just looking at 81 and 82 win teams.

There is no point in having a marathon regular season if half the league gets in anyway.

Cubs are about to lose 2 of 3 to the Tigers. This team is so frustrating. I'm actually looking forward to the rebuild after all of the "core" pieces eventually move on.

The teams that cancelled and walked out on their games today shouldn't play tomorrow. It's fake if you sit out one game and come back the next just to play a **** double header. Cancel the series if not more.

And down the rabbit hole we went.

Can we please discuss the games in here and leave the other stuff for a different thread?

Cubs trailing the Tigers in the Top of the 9th.

Another chance for the Cardinals to gain a game. Missed out last night. Can't miss out tonight.

This division is a fiasco this year. The Reds and Brewers have been a huge disappointment. The Cardinals have barely played. The Cubs are not nearly as good as their record would indicate.

At least the Pirates are who we thought they were.

That Acuna homer was insane. And off of Gerrit Cole in his first AB back from injury?

And as I say that, the Cubs are making a comeback. 7-5 currently after being 7-2 to enter the final inning

Rizzo's ball would've been a HR in any other park. Javy gets jammed finishing a terrible night at the plate. Schwarber with a semi-line drive back at the pitcher but would've been a routine play for the SS anyway.

7-6 after a nice comeback, but that's a bad series loss
