What did you accomplich other than repeating part of something I already discussed. I asked you in return whether the hitting streak in and of itself (ie the concept of getting A hit in each game) or whether he hit around .410 during the streak was more significant. You couldnt even answer this but claim to have accomplished something by repeating me. Im guessing you could take several increments of 56 games from that 1941 season where Ted Williams hit well over .410. Who cares if the hits in that span was spread over each of 56 games.

Because its different pitchers, different weather conditions, different everything. Of course it matters that its on different days.

Doesn't deserve but he can be on the ballot. His name is all over the Hall for his achievements. Btw is George Sizzler in the Hall or no?

You logic is completely skewed. As I said before, you are extracting one portion of information from an entire body of work. Like it or not; agree with it or not; take it for what it is worth, but baseball and its players are streaky. They feel better over a certain period of time, they see the ball better, there is that indescribable something that allows them to get "hot".

Dimaggio's ability to maintain this zone over a period of 56 games is what is truly amazing. The argument isn't whether or not it is harder to have a 56 game hitting streak or bat .410 over a season. It is whether or not hitting in 56 straight games is a "novelty".

If it is such a "novelty" then why did about 90% of the players in the modern era that had a noteworthy hitting streak have the highest batting (or 2nd highest) batting average of his career? I think that says something of the value and accomplishment that is encompassed in a hitting streak.

Maris just didnt play enough games, get enough hits, do enough of anything to back up his performance in 1961.

I wouldn't say that, he was the MVP in 1960.

However I still don't think he deserves to be in. .260 career batting average and 275 home runs doesnt do it.

On baseball-referance it lists his most similar player are being Jeromy Burnitz and there's no way anyone could resonable say Burnitz ought to be in.

Sisler is in the hall, but not just for the single-season hit record, he was also a career .340 hitter.
