I don't know about that. I just consider McGwire to be a scared individual who is afraid to dampen his legacy. I also believe that McGwire did in fact take steroids. There is freakin' way that if he didn't that he wouldn't say that.

One thing that really irritated me was how that one Senator called him out and asked him directly..."Are you going to deny it?" and when he didn't say anything, he said "Do you wish to plead the 5th?". That really pissed me off.

I have no respect for Mcgwire. if you didnt do steroids then deny it like Palmerio did. you dont sit there like a brainless jackass and keep saying " i'm not talking about the past". they asked him about andro something he admitted to using, and wouldnt even talk about that. and he is supposed to be a spokesman against steroid use please, i would rather have Canseco be the spokesman at least he has the balls to admit what he's done, and talk about it

At least Canseco admitted it. It was for money and the such but at least he was man enough to admit it. I honestly dont give two sh*ts if anybody did steroids, but at least stand up and say so.
I creating Ryan Langarhans and put him in the braves roster, but not only my entire braves roster changed but other teams roster changed too. Why is that. Now if the braves or other teams trade or sign players, there will be no point for chsnging it. If u don't have online like me, u be sad too.

Yeah, Mark should have, at that point, been an *** back and demanded that that very senator recite the first 25 words of the 5th amendment. And then made the point that, if thats part of the industry jargon of his profession and he doesnt even know it, then how can Citizen X, Mark McGwire, be required to use his terminology. Mark should have said that he stands before him as part of the citizenry elected officials are required to serve and that hes utilizing him in that regard.

Have you guys considered that Mark just resented being there to begin with and then resented having to answer questions on other peoples terms (ie "i plead the 5th"). And so he refused to do the little dance Palmeiro chose to do by giving a definitive statement. Mac was right, just being there carried an implication of guilt regardless of whatever confirmation or denial he might have provided, so why not do what he did if thats what he was most comfortable with. Palmeiro dealt with it differently but that Palmeiro.

The MLBPA strongest union...Well why not just throw every Large sports Union in there also? NFL, NBA, NHL (for whatevere they're worth)...I dont agree they're the strongest union especially when theres 3 other unions right in the vincinity. Once again you dont look beyond the scope of things. There could be a much better argued case for the Shoreman's Union which cost the country a few years back Millions of dollars a day....Steel Union is another that can be made a strong case for. Are you literally saying the MLBPA controls the prices of tickets??? WTF!!! Thats the owner's job to approve a ticket price increase or decrease...Owners decide who to pay and what to pay....why do you think Beltran didnt get the 10yr 200Mil contract he was asking for?? Because the owners decide everything...I didnt see the MLBPA come out and publicly say Beltran is deserving of the contract we say you pay him...

Do I think modern medicine has improved over the years.... YES!!
Fitness is Fitness??? You're 30+ you said. You have to be off your rocker to even sit here and say our modern day weights and knowledge of the human anatomy has not increased strength and endurance of our players today. Even the knowledge of vitamins and supplements were not known back in the 1950-1960...Guys in that day an age rarely worked out because they thought WEIGHTS WOOULD SLOW THEM DOWN with bat speed and on the bases!!!

Medicine itself has come along way...TOMMY JOHN SURGERY is one thing and it becoming a career saving procedure...Arthroscopic surgery which was not present till the early 90's..Just the simple ability to treat and diagnose injuries especially MCL/ACL injuries. All these helping the modern ball player play more games....I cant believe your only thought of major change is clubhouses and video enchancements...

Does anyone in this thread think this guy is fighting a losing battle?? Or is it just me
                  1. What I said was not childish, like I said in my previous post, it was short and sweet to what I had previously stated.

                  2. "You seem like that guy in the bar who has a smart-a$$ reply to anything anyone has to say" Once again you are assuming what I am as a person. Did I come and call you idiotic, childish or a smart ***? no. Who's the childish one here?

                  3. "Everyone else on this thread didnt spark a fire under me because they actually came up with a solid rebutal/discussion in most cases" Are you the forum police? who are you? I sparked a fire under you. So what. Speak about what's at hand, and leave the insults for your woman or mother.

                  4. "The MLBPA strongest union...Well why not just throw every Large sports Union in there also? NFL, NBA, NHL" MLBPA is the OLDEST sports union around, that is why I said the strongest. Sorry for not stating "sports" in my previous post. NHL compared to MLBPA?? You're kidding right? Should I go further with that?

                  5. "Are you literally saying the MLBPA controls the prices of tickets??? WTF!!! Thats the owner's job to approve a ticket price increase or decrease...Owners decide who to pay and what to pay....why do you think Beltran didnt get the 10yr 200Mil contract he was asking for??" Wait let me guess there's no shared revenue. So the poor stay poorer and rich get richer. Only the owner's are the ones making money.......

                  6. Fitness is Fitness??? You're 30+ you said. You have to be off your rocker to even sit here and say our modern day weights and knowledge of the human anatomy has not increased strength and endurance of our players today. Yup, 30+.....so what youre saying is, if I curl a 50 pound weight with modern day equipment, I'll be stronger than someone that curls the same weight with old equipment? interesting. I'll give you the nutrition and Tommy John surgery.

                  7. "Arthroscopic surgery which was not present till the early 90's..Just the simple ability to treat and diagnose injuries especially MCL/ACL injuries."
WRONG. I tore both my MCL and ACL playing high school football back in 88'. My surgery was performed by then Yankee doctor, Dr. Bonamo. BUT, when I had the surgery, I was off my feet for 8 months. That same procedure today is 150% better, I agree with you there.

                  8. "Does anyone in this thread think this guy is fighting a losing battle?? Or is it just me" I didnt know I was in a battle, nor do I want to be. I like discussion, not flaming.

IMO Roger Maris is still the record holder (non-steroid record holder that is).

McGwire, Sosa and Bonds can say 100x over and over again that they are innocent (and all 3 have so why you believe Sosa is the only innocent one is beyond me), but chances are I won't believe it. I can see the physical changes all 3 went through and the dramatic increase all 3 got in power as well.

Sammy has lied before. He lied twice last year on different matters (leaving the clubhouse early and his corked bat). That's nothing new for him. When he goes from 36 HR's in 1997 to 66 HR's in 1998, something is up. Yes he did hit HR's before 1998 (so did Bonds and McGwire), but Sosa is the only one to have such a dramatic increase. Here's an interesting stat about Sammy Steroid:

                              Sosa HR Total from 1989-1998 = 207 (10 years)
                              Sosa HR Total from 1998-2002 = 243 (4 years)

So he hit 36 more HR's in a 4 year stretch than over his previous 10 years.

McGwire looked bad yesterday. I knew he'd plead the 5th on the steroid issue and I'm sure was told to do so by his lawyer. However, public perception of that is never good. Especially when he admitted to andro.

I still find it odd that Bonds wasn't asked to go. I'm sure many would've liked to have heard his testimony.
