Actually, McGwire won it in 89 with the A's.

Yeah, but I'm thinking of '98 and beyond when they started breaking the records. In '89 McGwire wasn't "hulked-out" like he was in '98.

Rickey Henderson on roids? Either this was from Canseco's book or you're being off the wall. Rickey never had the body that screamed roids to me. He had a lot of speed and some power but he was mostly a guy who hit a lot of gappers.

Your response astounds me too. To think an older person on this thread thinks he has the right to belittle someone just based on his age astounds me. Just because your older you assume you have superior knowledge to all baseball related things. You know what im sick of? People like you who have to ask someone they're age, and then say 'grow up' to make a point. Maybe you should turn around and look and take a good look in the mirror and take a dose of your own 'grow up' advice.

You said "Blame starts at home," right? Well the Owners, the Commish, and the MLBPA are home, buddy! Not one person named Barry Bonds, but the League as a whole!

And I think the poster's point was that we as a country should stop putting the blame solely on Barry Bonds or make him the focus of this steroid era. We should instead look at the entire league as a whole the MLB and MLBPA as the people who allowed this to go on. There was no written agreement between the MLB or MLBPA stating that steroids were illegal, which technically it meant Bonds and Company could get away with it. The reason of the angst from fans and such is based on the morality of beefing up and having a better advantage than most.

The other point about percentages of players taking roids. David Wells, Caminitti (RIP) and others in the league have stated that steroid use is well above 20% of players. Since there had been no formal testing back when use was large, and BALCO hearings werent imminent of all players in the league yet we can only take their word for the use being at that number.
